Sarah (7800 KP) rated Moana (2016) in Movies

Not one of Disney's best
Don't get me wrong, it's rare for a Disney film to be bad and this is far from it. It just sadly isn't one of the best. It's visually beautiful and you'd expect no less, but I found the main story a little boring and to be honest it's been done before. The songs are good but not spectacular, and I didn't find much to laugh about in the entire film, which is unusual for Disney. On the whole it's just a little underwhelming.

Nikki G. (48 KP) rated Loving vs. Virginia: A Documentary Novel of the Landmar in Books
Sep 4, 2017
Nine years. That's how long Richard and Mildred Loving had to fight just to live together as husband and wife in the state of Virginia, their case traveling all the way to the Supreme Court. Ms. Powell recounts their travails in alternating pages, in spare but beautiful verse that makes you feel as if this couple, who were really quite ordinary but lived in a time when what we see as such today would have been extraordinary . . . or illegal, are right in the room with you, telling you their story.

Suswatibasu (1703 KP) rated Sherlock - Season 1 in TV
Aug 9, 2017
First series is the best series by far
Without a doubt, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman transformed the face of Sherlock, completely updating it for modern viewing. Sherlock is played to be on some kind of spectrum, which allows him to work out calculations at lightning speed. He's arrogant but hilarious and Watson is an absolute spellbinder of a sidekick. The bromance is beautiful. But the first series by far is the most coherent without going into odd tangents and storylines. Really worth the watch.

Fabulous acting (2 more)
Wonderful cinematography
Complexity of human relations
Another beautiful film from the master Almodovar
Pedro Almodovar has such a wonderful eye for understanding the human condition. Unlike his more outlandish colourful films, this is about the tragic relationships of estranged families and the breakdown in communications. Written in the perspective of a mother whose daughter left or went missing 12 years previously, the film shows her writing a letter to her daughter about all the mistakes she made in that relationship including erasing her from her life. Really very moving and poignant.

Haley Mathiot (9 KP) rated The Secret Life of Emily Dickinson in Books
Apr 27, 2018
The Secret Life of Emily Dickinson is an enchanting piece of art. Charyn dives to the depths of Emily’s mind, traveling down “organized rabbit trails” of her random but poetic thoughts. Her character is distinctly unique, her story frightening but beautiful.
This book feels like hot chocolate going down—delicious, sweet, but surprisingly fiery, leading your thoughts here and there, but keeping the flavor of Emily in your mind the whole time.
Content and Recommendation: Emily’s experiences are not for “young” people, but it would be appropriate for ages 16+

Jessica Cashen (1 KP) rated Dogs in Origami: 30 Breeds from Terriers to Hounds in Books
May 16, 2018
If you like dogs you will like this book. This book has detailed instructions on each fold needed to make each of the 30 dogs in this book. I tried my hand at a few and was able to it.....but mine were not as beautiful as the ones in the book. I have always been curious about origami, this is my first time trying it though. Overall I enjoyed this book and I think I found a new hobby. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

Ruth Frampton (577 KP) rated Inside Out Egyptian Mummy: Unwrap an Egyptian mummy layer by layer! in Books
Apr 10, 2018
With beautiful illustrations and interesting subject matter, this book is a win-win with curious children. and although it is quite short, it fills a child with wonder and lets them take in what they want before progressing to more challenging reading material. With appropriate technical language used, this book would be good in a school library and would work well for project work as well as curious individuals.
I am reviewing this book for Luann Columbo, Quarto Publishing, and NetGalley who gave me a copy of their book for an honest review.

I LOVE it!!!!!
I havent finished it yet, i want to take my time and enjoy every minute of it. It's full of Greek mythology, major bonus for me, and an rich storyline. My character has a personality! Everything about it feels beautiful and a joy to play. I still cant read maps, so finding things for me can be a bit tricky. However, there the handy feature to help you find quest goals and Ikaros to guide your way. BEST ASSASSINS CREED EVER!!!!

graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated Sun Hawk in Books

I'm beginning to think Cassie Edwards' books just aren't for me. While I think this one has been better written (as far as I got, at least) than previous books of hers I've read, it still feels very simplistic. I don't much like the love at first sight because he/she is beautiful theme, it just doesn't work for me. I guess I like to read more originality in Native American romances; so far, all hers seem so similar to each other, and do not deviate much from one central plot.

Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated Sex, Lust & Lingerie (Secrets And Lies #2) in Books

fantastic read
This is the second book in this series by this author. You definitely need to read book one in this series first. This book is filled with passion, jealously, lies, secrets and heartache. These amazing characters have fantastic intense chemistry between them. In this book the story starts to come together and the story between the characters is so beautiful. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
