Start of an amazing series
This book is a little Beauty and the Beast-esque, which makes me love it all the more.
Especially as Belle is my favourite Disney Princess!

The main character is a strong female who overcomes many challenges, she certainly can't be seen as weak or a damsel in distress.

Highly recommend this YA series to anyone that enjoys fantasy, it is possibly a bit graphic for younger readers though.

Bjerner is blind and is also one of the emperors closest friends and body guard, unfortunately through circumstances out of his control the emperor is assassinated and dies thinking that its Bjerner that has betrayed him.
Bjerner is devastated and seeks comfort from Ophidia, a warm friendship that blooms into love.

Miranda has done it again! Another fantastic novella. This is the 3rd in the fairytales of the myth series and is the darker version of beauty and the beast. This one is a lot gentler than the other 2 but it doesn't take anything away from the story. She is truly a talented author

I deffinatly recommend this story but make sure you read the other 2 aswell! 4/5

"Warning: This book has some mature content.

Honestly, though I liked the summary, I didn't really know what I was getting into. By the end, I came to the conclusion that in short, this was about Katniss Everdeen thrown into Beauty and the Beast with fairies. (If any of you have already read the book... am I wrong?)

That comparison may not sound very appealing, but it worked. Maas created intriguing characters and put them in a mysteriously wonderful fantasy world. The characters were complex and I liked seeing their different personalities. My personal favorites were Lucien and Rhys." Aladdin.

Beauty and the Beast.

Cinderella.

The Jungle Book.

The Lion King.

Pinnochio

And Mulan.

What do they all have in common? Answer: they're all live action reimaginings of animated movies.

From that aforementioned list, this is also the only one I haven't actually seen the original of, so can't really compare (except I know the original had Eddie Murphy voicing a character), and that the basic plot is about a girl pretending to be a bloke to join the Imperial army.

This also actually had more mystical/magical elements in it than I was expecting for a live action movie, what with the whole 'witch' turning into birds thing and the Phoenix, but was also curiously 'dead' and not really all that involving.
