Can't complain
I enjoyed this, I don't think the story came across as it did in the book but I was thankful there was more focus on the story behind rather that the sex scenes which I think took a lot from the movies originally. Sometimes I found the acting quite awkward but I think that was part of the way the film is and how they should come across.

Great cast (2 more)
Awesome racing scenes
Cool cinematography
If this were a beauty pageant we've just lost
This looked a class act just from the trailer and the full film doesn't disappoint. Based on the true story of how 2 men helped Ford design a Car to challenge the dominance of Ferrari. The chemistry between the Damon and Bale is great. The driving and race scenes look great, giving you the feel as if you are behind the wheel at times. It's a quality and all round well made film. If you liked @Rush (2013) check this out as it has a similar feel to it.
BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated The Guard (The Selection, #2.5) in Books

By now you will be quite familiar with Aspen Leger. The man who first broke America's heart and the main reason she signed up for the selection in the first place. But who is the man behind the sweet words and tender kisses? The man who thought he had nothing to offer.
"We know you're strong, but accepting help is its own kind of strength."
- Happily Ever After (The Guard) - page 244
There are several scenes that overlap from The Elite in this novella. It was enlightening to see these scenes unfold through Aspen's perspective. Very helpful overall to learn more about his character. It is perfect to read AFTER The Elite.

A cautionary tale of mob mentality
This is absolutely tragic. The last few scenes remind me of Frankenstein. This mystery novel surrounds a quirky young woman, her older agoraphobic sister Constance, their disabled uncle and an enigmatic cousin. They have a rather hideous family secret that is revealed midway but the reasoning behind it remains unknown. It is a fascinating story, engaging, and straightforward.

Not so amazing
I'm not sure we really needed this re-boot so soon after the other films! It seems to stay faithful to a lot of the ideas behind Spiderman and therefore some scenes are just like the first film, which makes me think why not try something totally different?! It's a good film though and the action and SFX are very good, overall I think it missed some of the charm of the recent first film.

Extremely interesting
Took this book on holiday with me and could not put it down! Managed to read it very quickly. So interesting to learn about forensics and pathology! Behind the scenes of crimes that ordinary people would not realise. Read about interesting cases as the forensic/pathology/psychological/detective work that goes into solving such crimes. Fascinating! Clear chapters also. Including some pictures!
