The Kiss
Sleeping Beauty- Filled with jealousy, the evil witch Maleficent (Eleanor Audley) curses Princess Aurora (Mary Costa) to die on her 16th birthday. Thanks to Aurora's guardian fairies (Verna Felton, Barbara Jo Allen, Barbara Luddy), she only falls into a deep sleep that can be ended with a kiss from her betrothed, Prince Phillip (Bill Shirley). To prevent Phillip from rescuing Aurora, Maleficent kidnaps and imprisons him. The good fairies are the last hope to free Phillip so that he can awaken Aurora.

So i did watch Maleficent and its sequel and i liked them, their were different, a different take on the oringal movie.

Sleeping Beauty is a classic.

The Claiming tells of Francesca's story. She was betrothed at a very young age, and only finds out on her eighteenth birthday who it is to. She doesn't know him, his likes/dislikes, and has no idea how he will treat her. Although she gets more than she bargained for to begin with, she soon accepts her situation and is happy to make the most of it.

This is well-written, with a smooth yet fast pace. Although this is a contemporary story, there is almost a paranormal feel to it. I kept expecting him or her to turn into a vampire! This is the first book in the series, so you can expect more to come from Julieanne Lynch.

* I received this book from Totally Bound Publishing in return for a fair and honest review. *

This book is what I would describe as a slow burner in the very best sense - the author has given the characters time to develop, to become their own person, before they even attempt a relationship together. Nothing seems rushed in this story, indeed we start the book when Orwenna is still quite young.

Although she is given quite a bit of leeway from her father, as detailed in the book, she is eventually betrothed to marry someone of her father's choosing. So when she happens upon an opportunity for adventure, she takes it almost like a last hoorah.

This is a book filled with adventure, myth and magic. There are good and bad on both sides which you will find out about. Very well-written and with a good plot line. The characters are both believable and likeable. I am looking forward to reading more in this series. Definitely recommended.

Isla Emerged (Isla Emerged book 1)
By Deidre Sequeira

Anger. Betrayal. Exile.Isla always knew she would be queen. One day. But after the death of her mother, matriarch of the Southern Pacific merfolk kingdom, that day grew much closer than she was prepared for. Worse, to become a mermaid queen, she must marry. It is the only way to protect her kingdom.Forcibly betrothed to her childhood friend and father's fiercest warrior, Isla is desperate for an escape--no matter the cost. But until she marries, her father is filled with a power his body cannot handle, and his control is steadily slipping. After an explosive fight with her father, Isla flees to the surface, only to find herself in the middle of a violent storm with two choices: swim to safety or save the human man she sees drowning in the tumultuous waves. Her decision will change her life, as well as her kingdom, forever.A story inspired by "The Little Mermaid" like you've never seen before.

I am usually weary of classic stories being retold but I really enjoyed this one. Loosely based on The Little Mermaid it’s full of action! Decent characters and a well written story! I'm looking forward to more from this author

This is the second book in the Dragon Clan series and I recommend you read the first book, simply because it is so enjoyable and you might miss out on a brilliant story if you don't.

This tells the tale of Harith, Huroth's son. He has been betrothed since a young age to a human princess, Ayelet. However, things aren't going too well although both of them feel that they must 'do their duty'. On a flight home, Harith makes a decision that is costly and ends up in Nyssa's care. She is also a dragon but doesn't tell him that due to her own private history.

This is a wonderful telling and the more I hear about the dragon clans, the more I admire Huroth! He is a wise and capable leader of the dragons and with Orwenna by his side, they make an awesome pair. Harith and Nyssa are a force to be reckoned with and I am looking forward to reading more snippets about them in the books to come (hopefully!).

This book has pretty much everything in it - love, romance, action, danger and even sadness so be prepared. Definitely recommended!

FORSAKEN DREAM is the first book in the Forsaken Destiny series and we start off with Echo. She is a Seelie Princess with a betrothed she has no interest in. Plus, she doesn't want to be puppet her father wants her to be. So she leaves and hides in the human realm. Sixty years later, trouble arrives in the form of three mates...

Echo is exactly the kind of female you expect from a Maya Daniels novel. She is strong and feisty, certainly not the kind of female to just accept and obey. Out of the three males, Tyler is my favourite so far. There is something so endearing about the 'Hulk'. Only trouble is, I couldn't pick him out of the book cover! Still, the three males are working out nicely together but a spanner was thrown in the works right at the end. I can't say it was a surprise but I look forward to seeing how it all works out.

This was a great start to a new series with a small cast of characters that I look forward to reading about. Definitely recommended by me.

It was a little over a year ago that I first read a Melanie Dickerson book. I fell instantly in love with her gift for stories! This year I have resolved to read more of the books that have piled up on my To-Be-Read pile (island...OK, it's a planet!) and I am making good progress so far. The Healer's Apprentice is a retelling of The Sleeping Beauty, which is my ALL TIME favorite fairy tale.

Rose is a kind and gentle young woman with a gift for storytelling, and a passion for life and Lord Hamlin, however, he is already betrothed. She struggles find her destiny. She thinks she knows what she wants in life, but it isn't until she lets go and hands her future path over to God that she begins to feel peace. Wilhelm, Lord Hamlin, has never had a problem fulfilling his duty as the future Duke. But when he meets Rose his life is turned upside down and he is conflicted by the pull of his heart and his responsibility as his father's heir.

A sweet romance and a life lesson, that when we follow God's calling and do the right thing, He will bless our path. Although it may be in a way we least expect.

I am so glad I finally read this story and look forward on catching up on the rest of the Hagenheim series in the near future. Don't miss A Noble Servant, book 3 of the THornbeck series, releasing in May!

Crystal's life pretty much sucks - she was abandoned at birth, she feels a burden to her adoptive brother and his pregnant wife and, on top of that, she has just assaulted her boss! She wishes she could just be whisked away from it all until she is then she just wants to get home to her miserable life... until she goes on an adventure with a few rather handsome, extremely hot men, especially one who she would give anything to be with but he is betrothed to another, on this adventure can she find more than herself?

This is the first book in a new series by the author, a fantastically written story with some twists and turns. Talk about having some saucy dreams honestly I was blushing! Totally understandable though! The style Nicola has written in everything just flows and there's no confusion about what's happening, she makes it so easy to follow. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, the camaraderie between the group and the way they fit together is just like a jigsaw puzzle, they were meant to find each other. I've read other books by Nicola and I get so into her writing I get lost in the worlds she has created. She has got a fantastic style and has you captured with every written word it doesn't seem forced or let's put that bit in it fills a gap, I cannot give her enough praise.

I highly recommend this book and give Nicola.M.Cameran's other books a read. I can't wait to read the next one.

WISHES FOR ROHI is the first book in the Jinn and Tonic series, and we start with Ashley. He is single but longs for a romantic affair, with someone to love him. It is his birthday but even his best friend has forgotten, so he spends most of the evening with a stray cat until his friend remembers and takes him out. There he meets the mysterious Zaire who gives him a night of passion unlike anything before. The morning after though - well, you expect it to be awkward sometimes, but maybe not twin brother turning up saying you are his betrothed awkward. Unfortunately, this is what happens to Ashley, and it looks like he was just a toy for Zaire.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was obvious that Zamir and Ashley shouldn't end up together, but it also looked like they would, even though neither of them wanted it. I was completely enthralled by every word and situation. I loved Nesrina and her down-to-earth abilities and empathy. But for me, the real Queen was Moira! She was brilliant and I loved every scene she was in.

Smoothly written, with characters to enjoy, this is a book I have no hesitation in recommending, and I can't wait to see who is next in this series.

Apprentice (The Black Mage book 2)
By Rachel E. Carter

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

She survived a trial year at the Academy, but that was just the easy part....

Now 16-year-old Ryiah is an apprentice of Combat, her school's most notorious faction of magic. When she finishes she will be a mage, but in order to do so she has to survive four years with a training master she hates and her old nemesis, Priscilla. To make matters worse the unwanted attraction Ry feels for her sometimes-friend-sometimes-rival Prince Darren is at an all-time high - even though he is betrothed to the very girl she can't stand.

Really, the only bright spot to Ryiah's new life is the time she spends with her friends, including an older apprentice named Ian, who she finds herself thinking about quite often.

Just when things start to get comfortable they take a turn for the worse. An apprentice is killed in a rebel attack and several mages end up dead. Unwittingly, the apprentices find themselves in the midst of a budding unrest between Jerar and its northern neighbor, Caltoth. For Ryiah the impending conflict means many things, but as her apprenticeship draws to a close she finds her biggest problem at home.

Unfortunately for her, Darren's not going anywhere.

So it was ok! It went exactly how I expected to be honest and followed a familiar pattern to other similar books! That’s not saying I didn’t enjoy it but it lacked a little depth! The characters were wispy washy and even when we lost Eve it wasn’t emotional enough! So hoping I can find a deeper connection in the next book.
