Just when I think things can’t get any worse...my ex shows up.
This is it. Our one chance to make it big in the Battle of the Bands. We have to win.
Except our bassist is missing. Guess who gets to track her down? That’s right, me. Because I’m the guy who’s always stuck fixing my band’s problems. And now my car won’t start. FML.
As if I’m not having a bad enough night, my ex-girlfriend Alexis shows up too. She offers to help me track down our rogue bassist, and with only hours before our band goes on stage, I can’t refuse.
I haven’t seen Alexis since high school, but now she’s back with a sexy new attitude and fiery red hair to match. She broke my heart once, but she’s not getting away this time.
Tonight I’m going to win—not just the Battle of the Bands, but the girl I never got over.
This is a standalone novella in the Chasing The Dream series, set a month before More Than Music.
It was good for what it was the start was a bit Ripley but it turned out ok in the end. This is a novella to a series so we will see how the rest of the books work out!

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2393 KP) rated The Cunning Cruise Ship Caper in Books

Sandy’s Cruising Toward Another Murder
Sandy’s agent has booked his next job on the comeback trail. He’s joined by his sister and a band, and his job is to provide two shows a night on a week-long Caribbean cruise. It should be easy enough, right? Complicating things is the dead body that Sandy finds in his dressing room the first night of the cruise. The victim was part of another show on board the ship. Sandy doesn’t feel like the cruise ship’s security is taking the murder seriously, especially if they consider him a suspect. Can he figure out what really happened before the cruise ends?
This is another fun mystery with Sandy. The mystery could have kicked off sooner, but the setup was still entertaining and did set up some subplots. Once it did get going, we had some nice twists before the logical solution. I did figure part of it out a little early, but not too much before the big reveal. I enjoyed watching Sandy develop more here, especially in his relationship with his sister. And I liked how her blindness came into play in the story. There was one reference to something that happened after the book is set, but it’s a minor issue. I’m glad I finally started this series. If you are looking for a new cozy series, you’ll be glad you picked it up as well.

Neon's Nerd Nexus (360 KP) rated Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) in Movies

Killer queen
#BohemianRhapsody while maybe not the moast truthful #queen film still manages to be an extremely well made/incredibly entertaining & at times quite an #emotionally powerful film. Just like #thegreatestshowman this film has been panned by critics & for the first 30 minutes I was worried. With a run time of over 2 hours I felt a little disoriented at the start by its seemingly abrupt pacing, wishing the #film would #chill out for a bit with its characters instead of skipping through time & the forming of the #band. Thankfully just after this the film flips when we hit the #heart of the story slowing down & we really get to see the real #Freddiemercury the things that drive him & the torments in his mind. #ramimalek is the clear star of the #show here, he doesn't just play freddie he actually has become him in a performance so mesmerising, fascinating & remarkable he really does deserve an award for what he has achived here. Every scene with him in is entrancing to watch & I found myself getting lost in the film by his performance alone. Make no mistake about it the film doesnt do much different to other films in this genre but having a film be about a mainstream #band that can unite the world with their #music there was that extra level of impact, connection & #heart to the story. Maybe I enjoyed it so much because its a story is so relatable too, playing out almost like a failed #relationship with someone you love starting in the #happy phase then moving gradually right through to the break up & then onto the struggle after it & I won't lie when I say it got to me a bit (I could also hear other people #crying too). Visualy there are some very #creative shots/great cinematography to & the #concert scenes felt so real & well constructed that I felt like I was there at one point clapping away. While it may bend the truth, sugar coat what actually happened & probably wouldnt be the same without such an incredible lead performance carrying it my god is it a good time & for me anyway quite though provoking & moving too. A must see on the big screen. #odeonlimitless #odeon #filmcritic #filmbuff #fridayfeeling #weekend #famous #rockandroll #disco #love #wewillrockyou

Just Glad It's Done

End to the Skywalker saga? If you mean taking a Palpatine and making her a Skywalker in the last 10 seconds of this movie ....then yes. This was a decent movie. I will say that much. This whole 7,8 and 9 saga was such a disappointment. The Rise of Skywalker still succeeded in giving the same narrative. Kylo Ren turned back to the light and died saving Rey's life. Sound familiar??? Yes we got to see Lando but as it has been said numerous times, the biggest mistake is not having all the legacy characters on the screen at the same time. But I digress. I did not care for the Palpatine angle. Abrams had to make up some story to fix Johnson's dumb mistake of killing Snoke. Seeing the Knights of Ren was anti climatic. They could have been left out of the movie and you wouldn't have missed them. Then Rey being the granddaughter of Palpatine. That has been theorized since episode 7. No big reveal really. But she changes her name to Skywalker at the end of the movie. This is the bottom line for me....40 years from now....is Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn and Poe going to be as significant as Luke, Han, Leia and Vader were? NO...when you think Star Wars villain 40 years from now it's still going to be Darth Vader not Kylo Ren, unless they create one hell of a villain between now and then.
