Gory, bloody mess
I wouldn't say this is a bad movie, but it focuses a lot more on the gore factor than anything else. While the lead acting to me was quite impressive, there was a lot of unanswered questions and I would have liked a bit more of a back story to it. But it was a decent film as long as you like blood!

A good story for a film, based on the Anime film....from what I saw almost scene for scene the same? Sadly this is ruined by really dodgy CGI for the blood and gore. Some of the creature design is not so good either, and you'd barely known it had a vampire in it. It has a couple of great sword fights but not enough to save the film.

Worth watching
A beautiful movie with enough gore and mystery. This movie will make you question who's the villain for most part of the film, and you will not expect to see what you will see near the end of it. It is not action based with rivers of blood, but it will do its best to scare you and make you shiver from every sound.

2 iconic characters in the same film (1 more)
Much better than most of the Friday the 13th films
Slasher fan heaven
A pretty cool hack'n'slash film. Almost tongue in cheek at times, it could almost be a spoof of both series of films. The effects are cool and there is plenty of blood for gore fans. Nice to see a recent film starring these two cult film characters giving the fans what they like.

LeftSideCut (3778 KP) rated The Sadness (2021) in Movies
May 12, 2022
Let's get the obvious out of the way, The Sadness is pretty damn gory. This aspect is both a positive and negative. Most of (if not all) the gore is achieved in a practical manner, and as such is undeniably impressive. It goes for the jugular, with the intention of shocking. There are multiple moments where everything is just caked in blood and viscera, but to be honest, it does come across as gore for the sake of gore. There's little else on offer, which is a great shame. There are some solid enough performances from Berant Zhu, Regina Lei, and Tzu-Chiang Wang, and the general look of the infected people is genuinely quite unsettling, but everything else feels a bit empty. It's hard to care about any of the characters trying to survive, and the attempt at an emotional ending falls flat as a result.
Gore hounds and horror fans will no doubt find things to love about The Sadness. It's bleak, nihilistic, and doesn't shy away from its depravity. I certainly didn't dislike it, but the overall experience left me very unmoved. It's ultimately a movie that is just an extreme splatter flick, and it could have been so much more.

Different direction for Saw (1 more)
Gore fans will be happy
I want to play a game
This seems to have come out of nowhere, or I'm just well behind with up coming releases. A detective story from the Saw universe.
Chris Rock, a little hard to view as a homicide detective, is working a case of a potential copycat killer of Saw targeting dirty cops. There is plenty of blood and gore in the traps as you expect, although they are less centre stage this time.
It's a decent mix of a cop thriller with the Saw traps twist thrown in. Although the ending was a little abrupt for me. Overall a decent film that will keep Saw fans happy while moving in a different direction.

Set in 1944, just before D-Day... we follow several paratroopers who are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a very important mission. Expect blood and gore! It happens quite quickly into the movie! The group trek through the woods where they pick up a female, who joins this unusual bunch of soldiers. They soon find out that nazis are experimenting on human beings in a mad bid to win the war. This however does not go to plan. With body parts flying everywhere, some pretty cool effects and blood drenched drama. Expect some interesting moments. The acting was great, but I feel the story line lacked in places. It could have been a great movie, but in actuality it was pretty average.

I was expecting some blood, gore, violence, and monsters (as you would expect from a novel written by a master of horror) and it was all there, but this isn't strictly a horror novel. It was more of an intriguing paranormal thriller, combined with romance and plenty of drama. The suspense kept me hooked and the believable characters left me thinking about them long after I finished reading the story. I haven't read many Koontz novels, but will definitely be reading more after this one.

This generations scream? No - but still ok!
Not to be confused with the very similar 'Blood fest' this slasher has a group of teenagers who go to a horror theme park at Halloween where they start to get picked off my a masked killer. This film is better than 'Blood fest' mainly due to better/cleverer gore and death scenes and a much better killer. What let's it down is highly forgettable and annoying characters (yes - I'm looking at you Bex Taylor Klaus) so you don't really care who survives. The real highlight is the killer and the film keeps them wrapped in mystery and hands us one of the most interesting endings in a long time. Nowhere near a game changer but definitely worth a watch.
