New friends Levi Blue, a former tween actor, and Sho Tanaka, a disgraced nurse, are helping out at a Halloween hoedown in town. However, things take an unexpected turn when they find the dead body of the town’s librarian in a trunk. Since it’s doubtful she crawled in by herself, can the dynamic duo figure out what happened to her?

When this author crossed my radar a couple of weeks ago, I decided to read this short story right away since it fit the season. I’m so glad I did. While it may be a short story, it is packed with fun. I laughed multiple times, and at one scene in particular. I really liked the characters, and they felt strong even though this was a short story. And the plot was good with a nice twist and a great use of clues. I read it in under an hour, and now I can’t wait to see Levi and Sho again.

Being a witch is hard. It's even harder when you live in a town that doesn't believe in witches.When young witch River Halloway moves to sleepy Brimstone Bay for her very first journalist job, she doesn't expect to cover anything ground-breaking. That is, until a paranormal festival comes to town and a body is found on opening night. Now, with all evidence pointing towards a witch, River must find the true killer before she becomes the prime suspect.Or worse, the next murder victim.So much for it being a sleepy little town.

It was ok and I liked it but it could have been so much better. I think it lacked a little personality the characters were a little flat. It was a quick ok to good read with masses of potential.

This week's folklore focus — the Salmon of Knowledge in Celtic tradition, and what the story of Finnegas and Fionn actually says about how wisdom moves through the world.

Finnegas spends seven years fishing for the salmon that consumed the nine hazel nuts at the Well of Segais and carries all wisdom in its body. He catches it and gives it to his apprentice Fionn to cook. A blister forms. Fionn burns his thumb and puts it in his mouth. The wisdom passes to the boy, not the druid who spent seven years seeking it.

The tradition records this without explanation or apology. The salmon went where it went. Finnegas sought correctly. Fionn received correctly. The wisdom moved according to its own logic rather than anyone's intentions or efforts.

It's one of the most honest things Celtic mythology says about knowledge. And one of the most quietly consoling, for anyone who has ever worked hard toward something that arrived somewhere else.
