I missed this one in the cinema when it came out (in 2017).

The only reason I've even heard of it now is due the the 2021 sequel.

Anyway, this is an action-comedy buddy movie starring Ryan Reynolds as a down-on-his-luck Bodyguard, who has to accompany Samuel L Jackson's hitman to a criminal hearing in The Hague where he is to give testimony against Gary Oldman's dictator.

With Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson on board, you know pretty much what to expect: bickering, gunfights, more bickering, swearing, bickering, gunfights ...

The story line of Artemis Fowl is something I've never read before and has such imagination and whimsy sure to peak any middle age boy or girl (or 28 year old adult's) interest. Artemis is an intelligent 12 year old boy from a long line of Fowl's and wealth. He along with his bodyguard go on a journey to find out more the secret world of fairy's. This secret magic land of fairies, trolls and other mysterious creatures is different than any I've ever read. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I can only see it getting even better from here!

Green Book. It breaks my heart that such a book ever had to be printed, as it was a list of safe places for African-Americans to stay and eat at while vacationing. The movie takes us on the true story road trip of Dr. Don Shirley, a world class pianist, who hires a Tony Lip to be his driver and bodyguard while touring in the south in the early 1960's. The movie drives us through the racial tensions of the time which leads to some tense situations, but we also get plenty of laughs watching the making of a life long friendship between Doc and Tony.

"A total favorite from when I was a kid was My Bodyguard. When they’re riding together on the motorcycle it’s like one of my favorite images in a movie. I think I also like the story. That type of story has always really appealed to me, two outsiders coming together like that, basically united as a cause who are from opposite sides of the tracks. That movie is just so awesome. The two of them on the motorcycle in that one really… It’s just that image, that feeling. I watched it at the perfect time in my life. I watched it when it came out in the theater. It was very meaningful to me growing up."

Lord Crawford has got somebody trying to assassinate him so in a desperate attempt he hires a bodyguard after watching him in a boxing match and he seems familiar. He finds his long lost friend and the reason why somebody wants him dead!

This is a lovely written story the way the friendship blooms after the time they've had apart is fantastic. Some fights occur and I found myself wincing, to be honest, it's that well written. The sex scenes aren't coarsely written they are graphic but beautiful in a way the connection they have is amazing.

It really was a shock who was attempting to murder Alfie and why!

Definitely suggest you read it

For professional Bodyguard Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds), life is good. As an elite member of his craft, he is well paid and lives a very good life keeping high-profile targets safe the world over. When things unexpectedly take a turn we find Michael two years on having hit the skids and struggling to claw his way back to prominence in the new film “The Hitman’s Bodyguard”.

Things become complicated for Michael as a despotic tyrant named Dukhovich (Gary Oldman) is on trial for war crimes and countless atrocities, and is about to go free due to removing all those who would be able to testify against him with credible evidence. That is with the exception of one Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson). Darius is incarcerated but makes a deal to testify in exchange for his wife (Selma Hayek), being granted freedom. Darius knows he is a marked man but takes the chance and under the watch of Interpol Agent Roussel (Elodie Yung), they set off.

Naturally things do not go as planned and the two find themselves fleeing for their lives with numerous deadly assassins hot on their heels. Unsure who she can trust, Roussel calls in Michael even though they have some seriously unresolved issues about one another that destroyed their previous relationship. Further complicating matters is the history Michael and Darius share which makes them naturally hostile to one another.

Nevertheless, Michael and Darius set off to reach the courtroom but the imposed deadline and face numerous dangers and hilarious situations along the way.

Jackson and Reynolds work very well with one another and their banter and chiding comes across as very natural. The jokes come more often than I expected but the film is very much an action film, and the sequences are intense, funny, and gripping, especially and extended chase and fight sequence along the canals and shopping district of Amsterdam.

While some may say that the film is just a variation on the Buddy Cop genre of old, the strong cast and the winning mix of jokes and action make the film a very pleasant surprise and one of my more enjoyable films of 2017. It was a highly-enjoyable thrill ride and one of the best films this summer.

If you are a fan of action, comedies, and the pairing of Jackson and Reynolds, do not miss this film.

Feel Good
So I went into this movie only ever having seen the trailer before another movie and so I was expecting some action film about a bodyguard.... HOW WRONG WAS I!!
This film was beautiful, heart wrenching in places, down to earth and a complete joy to watch.
There is such a journey during this movie both physically and metaphorically, between the two main characters, and watching their relationship grow was humbling and beautiful.
So even though this was not what I was expecting I think it ended up being so much more and I would urge anyone who had even the slightest though of 'oh that looks interesting' to take the leap and watch it when you get a chance.

Publishing powerhouse Image Comics has announced the launch of a brand new, dark fantasy series hitting shelves this July. Created by Justin Jordan (Luther Strode) and Rebekah Isaacs (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) Reaver takes an old idea and runs with it.

The continent of Madaras once promised a new start for settlers, but 200 years after its discovery, the war rages on. Deep within this savage and untamed land, a darkness builds that must be stopped at all costs.

To do so, the Imperials assemble six of its most despicable prisoners—a turncoat, a skin eater, a sorcerer and his bodyguard, a serial killer, and the Devil’s Son—the only ones who can stop the end of the new world. They are Hell’s Half-Dozen.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard picks up relatively soon after The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Ryan Reynolds’ Michael Bryce attempts to take a sabbatical after the events of the first film. His sabbatical doesn’t last long, when Sonia, played by Salma Hayek, crashes his vacation to ask for his help to save her husband from the mob. After they locate Darius Kincaid, the crew gets involved in this ridiculous international situation with Antonio Banderas, playing a Greek dude named Aristotle. Aristotle is angry that the EU kept sanctions on Greece, so he decides to knock out Europe’s interwebs. It is as dumb as it sounds.
The comedy trio of Reynolds, Hayek, and Jackson is amusing, and helps move the film along. The plot is silly, and predictable, but overall enjoyable. One of the funniest parts was when Morgan Freeman made an appearance in an unexpected way as Senior. I liked that there was a little bit of Sonia’s backstory, and we got to see some of her previous cons.
If you watch the first film, right before seeing this one, as I did, you can laugh at all the references back to the first. That being said, some of the jokes were disgustingly crass, particularly when Sonia talks about attempting to get pregnant, and it was too much. Also, the use of the word Mother F-cker was so excessive, it just became annoying. While I liked having more Hayek in the film, she flips out way too often for it to be funny. Another issue I had was the use of multiple dream sequences. It’s funny the first time, but not after that.
This is the first big, dumb, fun action movie to grace us with its presence since theaters opened up, and it was a good start to the barrage of big, dumb, fun action movie season.

Absolutely amazing
I have nothing bad to say about this show. It is serious while simultaneously hilarious. The plot thickens with each episode. The acting is superb and I love the romantic progression. Not only is the main character, Do Bong-Soon, at battle with herself and her incredible strength, she becomes the bodyguard of the CEO of a gaming company, and begins investigating terrifying disappearances that take place after a murder. When someone close to her is targeted by the kidnapper, she takes it personally and sets herself up to catch the culprit. The overlay sound effects and background animation only succeed in adding to the charm of this show. As long as you don't mind subtitles, this show is definitely worth a watch. The episodes are fairly long at over an hour each so it's easy to waste a lot of time watching without realizing. Be prepared.
