Ellen (2 KP) rated The Atlantis Grail - Qualify in Books
Feb 11, 2018
I urge you to read this book
As an avid book reader I like to sign up to things where you can get free books and this was one of them. To say I was hooked from the beginning would be a small understatement.
It is rich in detail and has diverse characters who inspire both love and fierce hate from the reader. There is definitely a win for the underdog and the nerd in me rejoiced.
It is a series of books which I still being written and I urge you to give it a go.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2273 KP) rated The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus #4) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
While Percy and Annabeth battle through Tartarus to reach a way to get back to our world, the rest of their friends attempt to reach Greece to help them. But with monsters attacking both groups, will anyone make it?
While I wasn't happy with the last book in the series, this one was much better. The plot kept moving forward quickly and all of the main characters got some great development. Fans should be pleased.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2273 KP) rated Cockatiels at Seven (Meg Langslow, #9) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When Meg agrees to babysit a toddler, she just thinks it will be for a few hours. So when the mother hasn't returned by that night, she begins to try to track her down. Naturally, the trail leads to scandal, and dead body, and laughs. I thought this book was stronger than the last couple in the series. The humor was sharper since it focused on the antics of the toddler, and the mystery was better.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2273 KP) rated We'll Always Have Parrots (Meg Langslow, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Meg's boyfriend Michael is appearing at a convention for the fantasy show where he has a recurring role. The actress who plays the main character on the show is a woman no one likes, so it's not that surprising when she turns up dead. But who actually killed her? Meg will have to get involved to find out. This book features some of the funniest antics of any group of characters in the series. Lots of laughs and a good mystery, too.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2273 KP) rated Death Runs Adrift (Gray Whale Inn Mystery #6) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Natalie is out picking wild blueberries when she finds a body floating in a boat. Since the boat belongs to her niece's boyfriend, he is naturally a suspect. Can Natalie clear him?
I love the characters in this series, and it's always wonderful to spend more time with them. The plot started out a bit slowly, but it soon gained speed and kept me intrigued until the end.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2273 KP) rated Revenge for Old Times' Sake: A Tracy Eaton Mystery in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Tracy Eaton is shocked when her normally straight laced husband punches his boss. But when the boss shows up the next morning floating in their swimming pool, Tracy must get to work keeping her husband from getting framed for murder. This book is full on craziness, and so much fun. But the mystery behind the fun is very well thought out. If you don't want zany, don't even consider it. But if you enjoy wild and crazy, this series is for you.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2273 KP) rated The Cat Who Talked Turkey (Cat Who... #26) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
It's the beginning of summer, and things are hoping in Pickax County. They are breaking ground for a new bookstore and the town of Brrr is celebrating 200 years. Oh yeah, and a body is found on Qwill's property. But since none of the characters seem to care about that, the mystery kind of whimpers along. If you love the characters, you'll enjoy the book, but there's hardly any plot. Par for the course for the later books of the series.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2273 KP) rated I am Invited to a Party! (Elephant & Piggie, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Piggie is invited to her very first party, and Gerald says he knows all about parties. But are his ideas right or not?
This is another fun and funny book in Mo’s Elephant and Piggie series. Things just get crazier as they go along until we hit the perfect ending. Once again, the words are easy to sound out and the illustrations add much to the humor of the story. Great for reading and rereading.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Eva's Eye (Inspector Konrad Sejer #1) in Books
Mar 16, 2018
Every once in a while, I become completely obsessed with certain genres. So basically, every time a new Jo Nesbo book comes out, I go on my Scandinavian crime fiction reading rampage. Nesbo recommends Fossum, and Fossum is considered the Queen in Norwegian crime fiction. So, naturally, I started with book 1 in her Inspector Sejer series, Eva's Eye. I believe it's been published under a different title in the States.
Overall, it was a good read. It wasn't necessarily easy to figure out, but maybe it was just me being slow. It was a quick read, and a good introduction to Sejer.

ashezbookz (32 KP) rated Gemina: The Illuminae Files: Book 2 in Books
Jul 5, 2018
I love this series so much - I think toward the end of this book I got a bit emotional - like, this one was perhaps even better than Illuminae and it was amazing and sad and great all in one - I cant wait to read obsidio now .. I heard it gets even more emotional. I loved the drawings in this one - like they were on point, I know she does her journals and it was cool to see the pages - kind of want to rip some out and hang them on my wall.. book abuse for sure
