Bubba Gee (147 KP) rated Orange Is The New Black in TV
Jun 25, 2019
Good show, starting to wane now
A good story based on the book by Piper Kerman.
The first 3 seasons of this were excellent, really gritty and true to life, after this the quality waned off and became a little ridiculous, season 5 was completely ridiculous and I dread season 6.
Im actually glad its the last one.
As I said the show has given me joy to watch for the first few seasons hence the 7 rating.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Spider’s Revenge (Elemental Assassin, #5) in Books

I really liked this one. It was different to the others in a way, like they had only been a build up to the big finale that was this book in relation to the killing of Mab Monroe.
Go Gin, go Gin, go Gin!!
She kicked arse, as usual, but she had me worried for a while.
This series has certainly grown on me over the last five books and I can't wait to read what she's going to get up to next.

Zoe (85 KP) rated Circus of the Damned (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #3) in Books
Sep 16, 2019
In truth there are authors in this genre who are in some respects better, however i do enjoy reading books by this author. The Anita Blake series is easy reading. The plots are not too complicated and characters are easy to follow and they never take that long to read that i lose interest. I would recommend to anyone interested in this genre that doesnt want a huge long drawn out book but a nice quick vampire story fix.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated To the Nines (Stephanie Plum #9) in Books
Jan 15, 2018
In the 9th installment of the Stepahnie Plum series Stephanie finds herself as the "prize" in a real-life game of murder. The players in this game are set up to hunt each other down by being given email clues from the Web Master an unknown person who directs the game & controls those who play it. Stephanie unknowingly thrusts herself into the game when she goes out to hunt down a guy who has bailed on his visa bond.
This book was much more suspensful than the last few in the series. There's lots of tasering, shooting, kidnapping, & bodyguarding. I figured out who the Web Master was with about 100 pages left to go...though I had my suspcisions earlier on. That didn't take away from the plot though.

BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated Gentleman of Her Dreams (Ladies of Distinction, #0.5) in Books
Jan 2, 2019
Miss Charlotte Wilson believes that God has brought her the perfect man to marry, Mr. Hamilton Beckett. But is he truly the gentleman of her dreams? Charlotte has devised a flawless scheme to snatch up the perfect husband. But does she have her sights set on the wrong man?
My review of this novella is short because I don't want to give away too many spoilers. I enjoyed reading this short prequel to Jen Turano's series Ladies of Distinction. It is light and full of humor! An excellent start to this series and I can not wait to read the first book, A Change of Fortune. Jen Turano has quickly become one of my favorite authors. After a Fashion is by far one of my favorite books that I have read this year.

David McK (3562 KP) rated The Splintered Kingdom (The Bloody Aftermath of 1066, #2) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
The second 1066 book (as an aside: what do you call this series? 'The Bloody Aftermath of 1066' sounds too long for a series title!), this is set roughly a year after the events of the first, and so is circa 1070.
As the novel begin, Tancred a Dinant is now a Lord in his own right with lands and vassals of his own, along the Welsh border. It is not long, however, before he is summoned by his own liege Lord Robert Malet to help put down rebellion after rebellion, as the English counties continue to rise against the Norman occupiers (of which Tancred is one), leading to his involvement in the infamous 'harrying of the North' by the end of the story.
Just as strong and enjoyable as the first entry!
