I absolutely loved this book. The addition of the zombies/shades to this series makes it even better, making this book the perfect read for the month of October. There are enough mentions of the original characters from the series to make me happy, but not so much that you wouldn't understand the story without the first three (apart from the magical guilds). Unfortunately this is the first book in the heir series that leaves unresolved problems at the end, but at least we know there's another book coming.

Just curious...How many of you are involved in a Book Club? And is it online or IRL?
How do you choose your books each month?

My Book Club is IRL and we meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
We have a calendar set up with a genre assigned to each month. At the end of our meetings, those who want to suggest a book do so and we post a 2-day poll on our FB page so everyone can vote for the next month's book.
Although we have about 30 ladies in our club, we get 10-12 that actually show up for meetings, so we do a FB Live of our meeting for the ones that aren't able to make it! We also have our group set up on Goodreads for discussion while reading the book (because you can't really warn with a spoiler alert on a FB post). It also gives the ladies who can't make it to the meetings a way to discuss with others as well!

That sounds great ? why don’t I put a separate post on here to see if anyone is interested in joining our very own Smashbomb book club? And if we don’t get much interest then I’m happy to join your groups and we could always promote them on here for anyone that’s interested?

Originating from a discussion in our Bookworms orb, would anyone be interested in joining a Smashbomb book club?

Looking at reading one book a month from a variety of genres, which members can vote for using a poll. We can set up a new orb specifically for this, where we can then discuss each book every month.

Comment on this if you like the idea and if we get enough interest then I'll start setting things up ?

This was really good! I am surprised that the series is not more well-known.

This was my book of the month for February 2014. You can check out and reblog my Tumblr post here: http://fuzzysparrow.tumblr.com/post/78126594550

What job for Elsie?
The about is based on reading this book to my 5 and a half month old son.

What I did like with this book is the inclusion of disscussion points. These are perfect to engage an older child who has read the book or had it read to them.

The rest were good to ok the other book that stood out was Faded Glory by David Essex it was from a box subscription and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it!

My DNF were high this month I just couldn’t get on with them I’ve never not finished that many in a month!

I’m half way through The Empire of the Vampires which is absolutely brilliant but that will be on Mays list!

My worst book was Jacys Lesson it was just a huge let down!

Overall it’s been a fantastic month for books I have so many I’m looking forward to on my tube for September!
