Dark and Gritty
I am a fan of Paul Finch and love Lucy as a strong, female character who takes no prisoners. Here she finds herself in the midst of a pretty grim series of what initially appear to be a series of unconnected events but they quickly turn into a nightmare investigation. This is where I need to warn you that this book does contain scenes of animal cruelty and abuse ... it also contains scenes of human cruelty! Both are hard to read.

Dark, gritty, exciting, full of tension and suspense, well written with a cast of brilliant characters, this is a great addition to the series and one I would happily recommend.

This is the third book in the series and although can be read as a standalone, to get the best out of it, I would recommend you read them in order so that you get the back story to the characters ... you won't be disappointed.

My thanks go to Avon Books UK via NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I've seen recommendations for Six of Crows repeatedly throughout the last year or two. Favorite Series? Six of Crows. Best female assassin? Six of Crows. Best fantasy book? Six of Crows. There has been a lot of hype around this series, from what I've seen. I finally decided to give it a try - it's not necessarily part of my usual read, but I figured, if I could love the Throne of Glass series, then certainly I could get into this. I did. I enjoyed it, even with the many different point of views and third person perspective. However - and here is where I make my enemies - I didn't absolutely love it. Perhaps, like TOG, it gets better with each book, but while this first installment gets 3 stars from me (and it's a steady 3 stars, honestly), I don't believe I could rate it any higher than that. I do plan on continuing the series, full of hope that I might eventually begin to love it, but until then, I suppose I'll have to go with: "I liked it."

This was a quick read. I didn't like how the author kept referring to the HBO series throughout the book. It took away from the information. That being said, this was a good starter to the history of Deadwood & the variety of characters that roamed her streets, saloons, & brothels.

Classic Harris, introducing Hannibal Lecter
Having watched the entire film series, the book is a fantastic background to Dollahyde's insanity. There is much more detail to his experiences as a child which gives his personality more of a well rounded character. There is no villain like Hannibal Lecter.

One of my favorite book series. Interesting characters and really good story. Sometimes the tone is dark, but there are great moments of humor in it too. There are also beautiful emotional moments as well which make you care about the characters a great deal. A very good read.

A friend of mine once vaguely mentioned these books as something I might like, but after reading your review, I think I'm going to have to actually read the series!

Hannah finds another dead body, this time the man running the local Christmas tree lot. Yeah, the series is stuck in a rut, but I still really enjoy them.

Identical twins solve a murder told first person in alternating chapters. Yes, it's a gimmick, but the twin authors pull it off perfectly. The start of a delightful series.

One of my favorites in the series finds Amelia fired from the Rogers and taking her literal act to other businesses as she tries to find another job.
