Auburn (57 KP) rated The Darkest Legacy (The Darkest Minds, #4) in Books
Apr 10, 2019
It had been a long time since I had read The Darkest Minds so going into this book without that recap was difficult. Once I figured out the characters it was a wonderful story that everyone should read. I think since the movie came out more and more people will be reading the series and continue onto this one. I know I will need to reread the Darkest Minds in order to truly love this one.
The cover is beautiful and the story is better. Rebecca is a complex character that we get to know better.
Perfect for fans of the original series as well as anyone who enjoys fantasy, magic, and strong characters who want to beat the odds and stick together as a group. A really touching story that will be loved by many ages.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Silence of the Lamps (Caprice De Luca Home Staging Mystery #5) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
Silence of the Lamps is book #5 in the Caprice De Luca mystery series, and while previous cases are mentioned, you do not need to have read the earlier books in the series to enjoy this one. The interaction between Caprice and her sisters is so realistic you almost feel like part of the family while reading the story. And when one of her sisters is the prime suspect in a murder investigation, how can Caprice stay out of it? The more she asks around, the more she finds that her sister Nikki was far from Drews only enemy. With lots of clues to keep you guessing at the identity of the murderer, this was a fast paced, fun read.

Rachel Maria Berney (114 KP) rated Interview with the Vampire (The Vampire Chronicles, #1) in Books
Dec 4, 2018 (Updated Dec 4, 2018)
A vampire story you can sink your teeth into
I credit Anne Rice with my love of vampire novels and series. It has become a lifelong reading habit.
If you love a good vampire book, you need to read the one written by the Queen Mother of all vampire series. It takes you through the centuries of Louis the vampires life, how he came to be, who his friends are, who he meets and what happens. It's a long, winding tale of intrigue, betrayal and love.
I love the rich history and the detailed characters, background and psychology. Rice is a great writer, creates a detailed world within out world, that you find yourself falling into and falling in love with.
Pick this up, you will be hooked and there's more books, so you won't be dissapointed.

So this series is amazing I laughed my head at at the antics that happened. The main character will make you want to scream at you book, phone what ever you read on because she seems to be blind to what happening with the guy she meets in the first chapter. The best friend is amazing I want to be her, she is a complete bitch and it's great.

Phil Leader (619 KP) rated Powersat (The Grand Tour #1) in Books
Nov 25, 2019
Dan Randolph has a dream - cheap power for all delivered via a series of orbital sun-powered 'Powersats' that will beam their energy down to Earth. However this is a huge project and there are any number of things that can go wrong. Dan will need to summon all his resources as a businessman and format astronaut to ensure his brainchild has a future.
This is a pretty solid start to the Grand Tour series of books, which seek to show the reader every corner of the solar system together with a gripping story. The science is accurate and plot is certainly gripping.
However this is a fairly workmanlike book, feeling a lot like Bova was writing with gritted teeth to actually get it finished. As a result it is a good but not great work of fiction.

Russell Evans (179 KP) rated Excalibur in Books
Mar 2, 2020
3rd and final part of the fantastic Warlord Chronicles!
Excalibur is the third and final book in the Warlord Chronicles series and is just a compelling and captivating as the first 2 books. (See my earlier reviews for the first 2 parts of this trilogy, ’The Winter King’ and ‘Enemy of God’)
Some epic battles and betrayals conclude this tale of Arthur, told by his loyal friend and Warlord Derfel, now an aged Christian Monk. Overall, the trilogy is a superbly realistic and gritty yet fictional account of the dark ages and the epic journey of Arthur and a magnificently strong cast of characters.
If you liked ‘The Vikings’ or ‘The Last Kingdoms’ series on TV, I would highly recommend that you give this trilogy a read – starting with The Winter King.
