Pretty good adaptation of a phenomenal book!
The book led me to expect great things... And I wasn't disappointed. Granted, I had to convince myself that they were different to enjoy the movie, since Spielberg wanted to leave references to his own works out, which basically changed everything.

I have been waiting for this movie for a long time, and I habe to say I wasn't disappointed. I can see why it took so long... There was a lot of CG work, and much of it was as smooth as an actual video game. I think they chose the right people for each role and it's clear that the alternate story line was considered heavily before it was implemented. Well done!!

"I loved the book. I’m probably one of those readers who judges movie adaptations far too harshly, but I was very excited to see the movie and when it came out, not disappointed at all. So incredible. I loved Logan Lerman, and Ezra and Emma as well. The cinematography, the acting, everything was just spectacular. A special film, especially to teenagers growing up in this world and finding out completely who you are."

This book was always on my TBR pile and I finally got around to it and was not disappointed. It was written fairly well, was a bit confusing on some of the character wording towards the end of the book. Definitely more impressive than the movie.

I cried for a good 2 1/2 minutes when the little girl got hit, but I felt you had to read the book to get a full understanding of how sensitive the mom is to the different spirits she was feeling. Amazing cast and amazing storyline, it was very scary but not just from the visuals of the movie. I absolutely hated the ending but it was an ending fit for this movie.

Stephen King
Kathy Bates best movie ever in my opinion

The story of a nurse who happens to rescue her favorite author from the scene of a car crash and brings him to her little home to try and help him recuperate. However once she finds out that her authors story has an ending she doesn't like let the sick and twisted mind of King take over.

If you have read the book then the movie is as graphic as that.

Very dull
It's in such a rush to get to the point where it can be a tragic love story, with our two young lovers on the run, that the movie completely forgets about plausibility and doesn't give us any time to believe in any of the feelings and emotions being experienced. I haven't read the book that this awful movie is based on but I can imagine that it goes into much needed detail a lot more than this does.

To echo other reviews, yes, the book is vastly different from the film. To be honest, I prefer the film.
I like Alice Hoffman as an author in general, but you can definitely tell this was an earlier book. It follows the Owens women, and their various doomed lovers. You can tell there are so many books written after this one that took inspiration from it.
Again, I can't help but compare it to the film, Sally's children weren't really a huge part of the movie, which I liked (sorry, I find kids super boring), but in the book, they're a huge part of it. It was really kind of annoying, and it almost made me stop reading.
I still liked the story, and thought the book was good, but wished it was more like the movie. Blasphemy, I know.

When I read the description of this book I was really excited to read it. But what I noticed that the book description provided, actually gives away all book, no mystery left. This is a short light love story which would be great as a movie script for Hallmark Channel. Unfortunately it did not impress me. The characters in the book were quite weak and not very interesting. I thought this book supposed to be festive, but all festivity was wrapped up into one chapter, last chapter to be accurate. It would’ve been good if some twists and drama would’ve been involved. I think it was quite corny and not very original story. To conclude, it is a good book if you into something to pass your time with a little bit of fun and romance.
