I don't know what I can say other than "wow this is incredible" to sum up this book. Hard to choose between this and The Ocean at the End if the Lane as his best, but remains one of the best novels ever written.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a sucker for a good fairy tale retelling and this one is top-notch!

Kat and Steffan's are great characters and the way they team up to find out what's going on is brilliant!

The character development, the speed the plot moves, its brilliant. (0 more)
Lyra wouldn't get over her father rejecting her so easily at 12 years old after she only just found out I don't think. She's a strong character but not that strong. It felt like the ending was rushed. (0 more)
Brilliantly enigmatic and interesting read

It's that time of year again when I like to catch up with a few classic christmas themed movies and this is certainly one of the best of them.Watching this reminds me how brilliant joe pesci is in comedic roles as well as playing foul mouthed gangsters.

An all time christmas classic.

"A great statement on human nature made by one of my favorite directors, Sidney Lumet. Early Jack Klugman, Jack Warden, and Martin Balsam are brilliant here, as well as the messenger/angel Henry Fonda. If you have any doubts about jury duty, please watch this. As for justice, there is just us . . ."

"Ernst Lubitsch’s profoundly moving and charming recreation of a microcosm of commerce-hunting humanity in an idealized, bygone Budapest. Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan are brilliant in their roles as the letterwriting non-lovers — but it’s Frank Morgan’s plight as the lovelorn, betrayed shop owner which gives the film its heart and weight."

"Film historians name it the return of JLG to commercial cinema (after his '70s experiments). If so, let's all be commercial. A film with thousands of cinematic ideas, brilliantly moving and emotionally brilliant. Also, an enormous, terrible and funny scene which connects sex with social hierarchy, sound with image, film directors with CEOs."
