I enjoyed it. It didn't blow my mind, but it was a good easy read. Alex made for a great bad boy character. I liked him very much. Brittany, however, not so much.

"As a band I love their vibe, the way they look and interact – all with their own little character going on. But I’m obsessed with [lead singer] Brittany Howard. There’s something about Brittany that puts fire in my soul. She reminds me of Etta James, Ann Peebles – she’s so fucking full of soul, overflowing, dripping, that I almost can’t handle it. On their most recent album [Sound & Color], there’s a song called Don’t Wanna Fight. Brittany comes in with a scream: “YOOOOOOOOOOOW!” I’d love to experiment more with my own voice like that. She’s exceptional, she blows my mind. I almost want to start playing the electric guitar, just to be more like her. Back in 2013, she was in the next-door dressing room at the Grammys. We were both getting ready – I think I was putting on my Spanx – and we met. It turned out she’d brought her grandmother to the Grammys. My love went even deeper for her at that point."

"Girl, Interrupted. I love the book that it’s based on; it’s one of my favorites. It’s really short, and I just think that it’s a beautiful story. I love everyone in it. I loved Brittany Murphy, I loved Angelina Jolie, Winona Ryder. So that’s one of my favorites."

Oof. This film was not great. I think Brittany Snow was the best part. Al Pacino's character was annoying to watch, as was Karl Urban's. Also, the cliffhanger??? The storyline already felt finished and then to push a cliffhanger just felt like too much. This is one of those times when a Rotten Tomatoes score of 5% makes complete sense to me.

"Top to bottom, a perfect film – pure joy! Brittany Murphy was one of the greats. I just think the joy in that movie and, again, maybe taking a character that seems harder to empathize with out of the gate, and [having us] realize what a human being she is, and [it’s] an exploration of a different side of culture. As a Jersey girl, it was always very fascinating and fun for me to see that sort of L.A. kids’ culture and, of course, the fashion. I just miss the ’90s."
