"I actually just got re-enamored with Philadelphia. I remember seeing it a few years back and really just loving A) the message behind it and B) I just thought that everything about that movie is very subdued. The music — Bruce Springsteen, “The Streets of Philadelphia” — there’s an undertone to it that’s very calming, but also very heavy. I loved Tom Hanks’s performance in the movie; I thought it was amazing."

"Walter Hill is a master who’s been copied by every Hollywood filmmaker since his first films and Ryan O’Neal turns in one of the coolest characters in The Driver. Bruce Dern plays a cocky cop who you can’t wait to see lose and Adjani plays a cool-as-a-cucumber damsel. Also check out Claude Lelouch’s C'était un rendez-vous, which acts like a weird French cousin to this film."

Totally bonkers movie, but so much fun to watch, Campbell is certainly no Evil Dead's Ash in this one, but it's great to see him back in a store and to see him up against some evil creatures that look great with the physical effects. If you are a fan of Bruce Campbell then this is a movie worth checking out, but just don;t take it too seriously.

The Best Batman Joker movie yet
Bruce Wyane (Keaton) is a billionaire with a dark past on how his parents were killed. His motivation is life has become to never see crime like this happen in Gotham city again and becomes the crime fighter known as Batman. Jack Napier (Nicholson) is a life long criminal who gets dropped into a vat of chemicals and becomes the maniacal criminal villain known as Joker. Vicki Vale (Bassinger) is a reporter who wants to find out out more about the bat and becomes Bruce's love interest but, also strikes the fancy of the Joker. Who will Gotham and the girl belong to when it's all done?

The best Batman movie in my opinion. Keaton gives a great portrayal of Bruce/Batman and Nicholson as the Joker gives us the right emotions that he deserves. Bassinger is also very good as the love intrest. All in all a great watch

Oh dear this looked ok from the trailer. Thought it would be a mix of Liar, Liar with Bruce Almighty. Unfortunately it was no where near as funny as those two. In fact for a comedy apart from the main plot running through the film, it tries to be a bit too serious for a comedy. As a result not that much to laugh at here. I expected a lot better and was let down.

Bruce Willis killing bad guys
5 minutes before DEATH WISH started there was just 2 of us in the movie theater (by the time the film started, there was probably around 20). I turned to the only gentleman sitting there (about 2 seats down) and asked him if he'd like break into a "discussion group" after the film. "I'm just here to see Bruce Willis kill bad guys.", he said.

He did not walk away disappointed.

Directed by Eli Roth, DEATH WISH is a remake of the early 1970's film starring Charles Bronson about a "normal, family man" who snaps after his wife and daughter are assaulted. The Police' hands are tied, so he decides to take matters in his own hands and starts committing "vigilante justice".

Bruce Willis stars in this remake - and he is perfectly fine as the Doctor turned vigilante. Joining him is Vincent D'Onofrio as his brother, Elisabth Shue as his wife and BREAKING BAD'S Dean Norris as the cop who is chasing him. All of these actors do a perfectly fine job with what they are given to work with, but (let's be honest), fine acting - or intricate plot developments - are not what you are looking for in this film.

As my new friend put it - "I'm just here to see Bruce Willis kill bad guys".

And "kill bad guys" he does. But...not as often as I though he would. And...not nearly as graphically as I was expecting. Director Roth is known as a Director of Horror "splatter" films, "torture porn" fare like the HOSTEL films and CABIN FEVER. I was pleasantly surprised by the restraint that Roth has shown in the graphic violence in this film - I was expecting it to be a lot worse, almost stomach churning - but it just wasn't (except for 1 torture seen involving a car). It was "basic" violent fare - and well done.

To be honest, I thought they spent too much time of the film setting up Willis' character turn to "the dark side", at one point wondering "get to killing the bad guys already". But, when the film gets there, it is entertaining, indeed.

As I walked past my "new friend" after the film was over, I asked him what he thought:

"I saw Bruce Willis killing bad guys, I'm good."

And that about sums it up.

Letter Grade B- (just know what you're getting into)

6 (out of 10) stars and you can take that to the Bank(ofMarquis)

I'm batman
Keaton was phenomenal in this film. The eccentricity of Bruce Wayne came so naturally to him. And Jack Nicholson as the Joker was spot on. And let's not forget the far too brief appearance of the late, great Jack Pallance. All in all, a perfect page to screen adaptation.
