Liliannar (58 KP) rated Fantastic Four (2015) in Movies

Acceptable
This was a significant improvement over the version that was released almost a decade ago. The actors were able to portray their characters quite well, particularly in the first two-thirds of the movie. The final third of the movie was over the top in a way that wasn't enjoyable. While I'm glad I watched this movie, I'm not sure I'll be watching it again anytime soon.

An entertaining family adventure film most will enjoy. It is big budget and that shows in the amount of CGI effects, but at least they do look good. Not particularly original, it does pay homage to Disney's Fantasia at one point which was a nice touch. Kinda reminded me of the films I enjoyed when I was younger like The Neverending story. Fun for all ages if falling short of a classic.

Oddball comedy
A strange comedy for adults that is part spoof, part panto with quite a good cast surprisingly. There is a fair bit of gore, swearing, rude references, nudity and reasonable cgi for a film of this type. Overall though it's missing the main ingredient, being funny with most of the jokes just not that good. A strange type of film, rather childish and silly with a few redeeming qualities but not many!
David McK (3425 KP) rated Alita: Battle Angel (2019) in Movies

This, I felt, is really a movie of two parts: we have the CGI and action portions of the movie (set in the future, and largely featuring cyborgs), unfortunately tied to a somewhat lacklustre 'Young Adult' love story.
Oh, and if anybody ever wants a perfect example of 'Chekov's gun' (i.e. introduce a plot element early on that must go off later on) look no further than this: the 'Battle Ball' rollerball elements.

Russ Troutt (291 KP) rated Jeepers Creepers III (2017) in Movies

Third time is not the charm. After laying my peepers upon Jeepers Creepers 3 I see why it only got a one night screening in theaters. I know it had a cheap budget, which resulted in a cheap look and tone, over acting from underpaid actors, and some horrible cgi, but no excuse for making a movie this bad. Just not worthy to be associated with the first two movies in my opinion.

The huge problem for me is I watched this film on a much smaller screen than usual. SInce I was closer to the video, I noticed so many CGI and wire shots and poor camera angles. The effects may have worked on a larger format since it would fill up the room. Here, they were so completely distracting that by the time the movie reached the fight scenes, I was tuned out.

Good cast (1 more)
Some good effects
Throwback Thriller
This sounds like an exciting Thriller with a Firefighter protecting a kid on the run from two assassin's in the Wilderness. Great potential reminded me a bit of @The Contract (2006) plot wise. The cast is very good, recognisable faces, the Assassin's were a good pair. A little bit predictable and the final act could have been more eventful. Overall a decent thriller.

Nice set design (1 more)
Good Cast
Very poor plot (1 more)
Terrible Cgi scenes
One for the Black list
The most recent Sky Original film set at a Black Site facility. Despite a talented cast the plot and story are quite simple. Rather slow and boring to get going for a short film. Almost more Slasher film than action once a character goes on the rampage. The apparent twist was obvious from the start. One to miss.

It was a hard shoe to fill
Whilst a glorious live action version of "Beauty and the Beast". One of the better ones and set a decent bar for the few to come. The music was wonderful and the world they created was magical. My only issue is that the singing just didnt sit well with me - perhaps just personal taste. I just felt like it didnt quite capture the same beauty as the first.
