Well that's the first book of the year read and what a way to start. Sam's troubles are only getting worse and I spent most of the thinking 'what? what? what the hell? oh my God. don't you dare.' What can I say except: bring on 'Lies'!

"As someone who has seen every single Tarkovsky film, I can safely say this is his masterpiece. While I never tire of any of his work, Stalker is impossible to overwatch. The images and atmosphere are so intoxicating and enigmatic, it feels like entering a dream."

A Surprising Gem
I can honestly say that this book surprised me. When I first started reading it, I felt somewhat bored and thought I wouldn't finish it. I am glad that I put it down and came back to it later in the day because once I started reading it again I couldn't put it down. The storyline flows ever so smoothly and the characters are beautiful though I must say that Catherine left a bad taste in my mouth. In reading this I was left with the desire to roam freely within Willow Hall and the grounds. I grew rather fond of Lydia and John and I hope that the author will continue their story.

"It's very strong. This album makes me cry. It's the first album of Toumani's albums that I listened to and I started crying right away. I didn't know why I was crying. I was crying for happiness, I was crying for sadness. I couldn't explain it. I was crying deeply. That's why I always say that music can heal people, because it can take you somewhere you don't control. Many artists can take me to their world and through their world they can take me to my own world, to my past. For me, crying can heal many things. You can process many experiences that you didn't have time to digest. With time, you digest them and you learn how to heal yourself, to be at peace. Listening to good music, music that you like, you can really help yourself, to heal your soul, step by step, day by day. This record is really deep."

Well it is pretty damn kick-ass.
I didn't read the comic until after the movie came out and at the time I still hadn't really delved very deep into comic books just yet only reading a few here and there but I really think Kick-Ass was a great start because holy hell did I freaking love it the blood, the gore, the action and all the smart ass remarks definitely drew me. What can I say I love asshole characters and this comic is chalk full of them.

I loved hit-girl the most she was even more bad-ass in the comics the only thing I genuinely didn't care for and the reason I couldn't give this a full 10/10 was Big Daddy all I can say is I'm so glad they changed it for the film.

Very satisfied with this read. I didn't think I would like it at first glance on account of the way the store had the book cataloged as 'superhero fiction' or something to that affect. After reading the book I can safely say the time it took me to read it was time well spent.

Alex Proyas recommended The Godfather (1972) in Movies (curated)

The Godfather (1972)
The Godfather (1972)
1972 | Crime, Drama

"Well, you know, it’s interesting because my favorite films are ones that I keep watching. I just don’t think there have been many great science fiction films made. I mean, 2001 is genius, there’s no question it’s a masterpiece, but I’ve already picked a Kubrick film. I find Dr. Strangelove a more user-friendly and enjoyable film to look at and watch repeatedly. I can watch it endlessly. Blade Runner is a masterpiece, but I don’t know that I would put it in my top 5 at this stage. Maybe at some other point in my life, I would’ve. I picked a Hitchcock film. Kubrick, Hitchcock, and Tarkovsky are my absolute Holy Trinity, you know? I’ve picked one from each person now. Oh! Okay, here’s a curveball. Um, no, I don’t want to say that one… I was going to say The Wizard of Oz, which I really like, but I don’t know that I’d put it in my top five, but in my top twenty. [Long pause] Godfather, I’d say. Just a flawless film, something that’s so beautifully crafted and so perfectly structured and designed, that I can watch it endlessly and enjoy it every single time."
