Unusual story
All the love for this audible release. This really is the best encapsulated, standalone romance I’ve read in an age. It’s an unusual story which is part of the strength because unlike most romance, it wasn’t a familiar storyline. The characters are equal measures of feisty, stubborn, loyal and caring and I loved them both very quickly. There's a great suspense element in this book two but it doesn't overpower.

I am a fan of kylie Scott but there was just something about how she wrote the heat in this book that was fantastic. Her plain use of vocabulary made everything come alive, if you catch my drift. Go listen the heck of Andi Arndt doing her thing on this audio.

This has left me wanting so much more. And I really want Tarrick to be lying about not caring for Matthew. You can't make me want them to be a couple and then break my heart like that. I mean, I know Tarrick was a bit of an arse in how he treated Matthew but come on..?!

I have to agree with some other reviewers about having M/F sex scenes when I thought this was going to be M/M. I don't really like it happening but I didn't mind it too much.

I also can't wait to read more of this series and might have to splash out on book two just to see what happens next.

This turned out to be an ideal read for the Halloween season. While many of the short stories here have a pretty "literary" feel, and some don't necessarily qualify as horror, they each have a haunting quality about them. The characters are always engaging, and I found myself caring for most of them, which is quite a feat given how few pages some were given in which to develop. And don't mistake my earlier comments to mean there is nothing scary in this book. There are quite a few tales here that left me creeped out enough that I will likely remember them for some time to come. This collection isn't perfect, but it really shows the promise of just how great a storyteller Mr. Hill would ultimately evolve into.

This book reminded me very much of Ann Patchtett's State of Wonder. Unfortunately, I didn't like that one very much either. I found The Expansion to be very slow and had to trudge through it in many spots. I had a hard time really caring for or about any of the characters who seemed very one dimensional and not fleshed out enough. I did like that there wasn't much technical talk regarding the Panama Canal even though a large part of the book centers around its blueprints, plans, budget and expansion project. Many events were left as dangling loose ends, never to be tied up or severed and, even worse, some events had nothing to really do with any of the storylines and did not bring anything substantial to the narrative.

"I can’t wait to see this new release! I have such incredible memories of watching this (probably just on a VHS borrowed from the library) and gushing over it with my mom and sister. All that gorgeousness, safe harbor from stupid rules, humor, light and landscape, and Kiri Te Kanawa blasting your heart out—such a welcome alternative for a young teenager into year six of the Reagan era. I am such a fan of how E. M. Forster’s novel engenders hope and the promise of a sane and healthy relationship between humans, love, and nature and themselves. This film is so fun, and feels like everything is coming from such a knowing, good, and caring place. It supports you! Be true to yourself, do the right thing!"

“He wanted to show that fate ruled people's lives, and that those who interfered with it did so to their sorrow. He put a spell on it so that three separate men could each have three wishes from it.”

Can you believe that I'd never heard of this short before and knew nothing of the plot what-so-ever, before today? Well it's the truth. I think being so ignorant to it made me love it more. I got completely immersed in the story and the lives of our caring and lonely White's.

The panic felt in this book translates to the reader so much so that you find yourself short of breath, praying, hoping, that the front door stays shut.

Excellent horror short, well worth taking 10 minutes out of you day to read.

Full Disclosure - this was an unedited, pre-release Goodreads win.

This is book 3 in the "Me Before You" trilogy. Not sure if there will be another one in the series. This book picks up Louisa's (Lou) story after she stops caring for Will Traynor and dealing with her emotions and feelings afterward. It continues with her relationships built from the previous book, "After You". In this book, Louisa reunites with Nate in New York working for a wealthy family as an assistant to the wife. She discovers that, while this life in NY is totally different than her life in England, she really enjoys it but misses home and her family. She is seeing everyone around her (both in NY and England) moving on with their lives and, by the end of the book, it is her time to move on.

Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
1993 | Comedy, Drama, Family
Let’s be straight: Mrs Doubtfire has faults. It is sentimental, uneven and at times a bit dull, actually. That said, there is one thing that lifts it, and that is, of course, Robin Williams. He exudes personality, and it could be argued this was the peak of his comedy improv powers, as far as his film career was concerned. It is no Tootsie, which it naturally owes a huge deal to, but it does have immense charm all of it’s own, thanks to the key scenes of William’s empathy and caring, that you just can’t fake. So satisfying as both a comedy and a family film that forces us to think about the lighter side of a break-up, where the children are the most important thing. Lots of feels, tons of interesting comment on roles within gender.

Christos has had a difficult few years but he's a powerful, resilient and vulnerable man who prioritises his children and his CEO job.....but his head gets turned by a goddess....

Dr. Selena Evans is beautiful, intelligent and a caring mother. She's been dealt a crappy hand (as*hole ex) and is finally doing something for herself. She's rebuilding her confidence and independence with a long overdue vacation.
Although she has the intention of having fun and a few flings, Selena is totally unprepared for Adonis to walk into her hotel room.

Love Yourself
Love is a fickle thing. To be in love is one of the most beautiful feelings you could experience. On the other hand, losing a love feels like the world is crumbling around you.

Me Before You takes us on a roller coaster through these emotions and more. We follow Louisa 'Lou' Clark, our protagonist as she navigates a new job which can be quite daunting without having to care for a sarcastic quadriplegic who makes jokes at your expense. Will finds Lou strange and exhausting, just someone else to babysit him assist him in the most mundane of tasks. However, Will and Lou form an unlikely bond of friendship which develops into something more. What Lou didn't account for is that she is caring for a man who no longer has the will to live.
