DNF at around 50%.

I remember I wasn't too fussed about the first book, just that it got better near the end. Considering I read it over a year ago I can't remember a thing about what happened but when I saw this in the window of the charity shop I thought, "why not?"

Unless you read this more or less straight after the first book--which I don't have anymore--like me you might find it a little hard to figure out what's going on and be confused.

I found this book on my bookcase, not quite sure how I came to possess it, but thought I would.give it a read. I like to give every book a chance, but I couldn't get into this one, I really struggled with it. The plot was flimsy, if not non existent, and the characters are totally unrelateable. It takes a lot for me to give a book only two stars, but this book managed it. I would not recommend this book and will be giving it to the charity shop.

This was in no way what I was expecting. The plot followed two people who weren't alike faking a relationship for charity. What starts as a one sided hate fest turns into something more.
I enjoyed the sweet side of the story and the fact that some prejudice the Sarah had seems to disappear the more she realizes not all people are the same. In the beginning I didn't really enjoy the fact she generalized sports players as being dumb.
Overall a sweet read that keeps you smiling throughout.

Thank you for allowing me to read an early copy on NetGalley

Beatriz (138 KP) created a post in Pets!

Hello! This is Hatty and she is a gerbil!
Me and Paige found her at Pets at Home one day
She had been given back by someone and the money for her would be given to charity
We fell in love with her the second we saw her so we immediately brought her home. She runs to us on her little ball, she nibles our fingers carefully not to hurt, and she gets all excited when we come home. She also loves kissies and make my back a slide. I would post videos of her but for some reason I can’t do here you have a picture of her to wish you all a good night!

This is my second book by the author and my second did-not-finish. I always struggle to get into them. They dont have that smooth quality that i like or the typical romance that i want. I may have liked that it was set in the UK but I couldn't get into it at all.

I had [b:How Hard Can Love Be?|26255907|How Hard Can Love Be? I'll Be Home for Christmas

I specifically left this book till December to get me into the Christmas spirit.

I love reading short story collections, it’s a great way to find new YA authors and sample their writing.

‘I’ll be home for Christmas’ is a collaboration of UKYA authors and their stories of young adults and what ‘HOME’ means to them. I loved that this book has several genres including science fiction, Horror and Contemporary with such diverse characters. We have refugees, race and sexuality being explored and there was something for everyone to enjoy. I obviously had my favourites in this book and it was surprising that it was the horror, it was so intense and atmospheric and definitely got my pulse racing and that was Claws by Thomas Becker. There was not one story that I disliked in this book and after each story was finished I was left wanting more. I will definitely be purchasing my own copy of this book. There are 15 short stories/poems in this book including a competition winner.

This book is heartwarming and heart wrenching at the same time and definitely recommend reading.

Stripes teamed up with the charity Crises for this book to raise awareness of the hardships young people are facing today. This book is definitely impactful and made me think of the people who are less fortunate and homeless, £1 from every sale is donated to the charity.

*I received a E-copy of this book from Netgalley and Stripes in exchange for an honest opinion.*

It's hard to believe this movie came out 9 years ago.... yet I know I've seen it enough to count those years. It's not my favourite Toy Story, mainly because I loved the first one so much, but it's by far the most influential one. It encouraged me to get rid of some of my toys and give them to charity stores for other children to use. Better home for them. I do however have a Strawberry scented Lotso of my own who I'm still not convinced isn't evil but he sure smells good!

Also like to add... Barbie and Ken? Adorable!!!!

And so glad Bonny was given the toys... they will love her! (See Toy Story 4)

What an absolute flop!!!
After loving "this is going to hurt" I was so excited to get this when it came out. And then it arrived. For the price of a standard hardback I got a pocket notebook! Oh well it still has potential.... nope! This feels like an absolute stretch to make money on another release around christmas using the back of the last book (which was actually really good) to sell to previous fans. I feel this flop will actually do the opposite and put people off buying the next one (if there is another) because they were tricked into buying this rubbish with an expectation that it would be as good as the first. This one went straight into the charity shop bag!

I read this when it was provided as an addendum to 'Battle Ground' (that's book #17).

I was unaware that, apparently, this had also been released previously, on Jim Butcher's own website, back even before Peace Talks (or book #16) was released.

it is set after Battle Ground - thankfully giving no spoilers but only dropping hints to what will transpire - with Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, attempting to put together a bicycle for his daughter on Christmas Eve, while staying with Michael and Charity Carpenter.

A bit like Scrooge, he receives numerous supernatural visitors on that night (although for very different reasons than Scrooge did!), with the final visitor and the final portion of the story bringing a tear to the eyes.

The Maimie Papers: Letters from an Ex-Prostitute

This was fascinating. I love reading letters and journals from real, everyday people, as I feel they can whole a sense of place and time like no history book ever could.

Maimie Pinzer was a prostitute at the beginning of the twentieth century, and had become addicted to morphine after losing one of her eyes. She must have cut an unusual figure with her eye patch. The charity workers gave her the name of one Mrs. Howe to write to, a society lady with philanthropic interests. What developed was a lifelong friendship. Unfortunately, Mrs. Howe's letters are no longer extant, but Maimie stands on her own, and you can watch her shyness in letters begin to blossom and become a most admirable character, especially considering all of the adversity she faced.
