I loved this book so much as a kid. I reread it so much that the cover nearly fell off. I was a pretty solitary child, so I related to the main character completely. I loved the history as well, this book is one of the many reasons I got a BA in history.

A good film with some great special effects and a great cast. Maybe a bit more child orientated than some others films of this type that have come out recently. Similar to The Chronicles of Narnia. If you like a good fantasy film you'll enjoy this, just hope the next part is a bit better.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book was incredibly creepy! Told in first person it explores a '90's childhood and the life of a child therapist.

There's some really neat twists that I didn't see coming.
I highly recommend this book.

"Many months later, mysteries persist: Still following the dress hovering through “In Fabric,” troll opening the fridge in “Border,” first dancer’s contorted death in “Suspiria,” Steven Yeun’s character yawning in “Burning.” Moved suddenly to tears by the the momentary flashback of family faces in “Happy as Lazzaro.” “Synonyms” and “Zombi Child” are still very fresh."

"As a child of humble means, this book allowed me to believe that I could go anywhere and do anything. It reminds us that along life’s journey, things inevitably will go wrong and we will have setbacks. But the world has too much to offer and one should be open to whatever experiences avail themselves."

"The classic story of a wild child on the outskirts of rural society with an absent mother and wayward father, and the trials he endures. I feel for Huck as I never do for Tom Sawyer, who is more civilized. A portrait of America at a moment in time which is still relevant today."
