Just watched this film is seriously funny I like some Kevin Smith films like chasing amy and red state definitely put this up there with those films. Any film that breaks the third wall and pokes fun at it self and even Kevin Smith makes fun of himself which was funny. Love the cameos especially Matt Damon and Chris Hemsworth who I thought would never do something like this. But lastly not forgetting Harley Quinn Smith daughter of Kevin Smith star of the future who manages to steal the movie from her dad chip off the old block anyway good movie worth a rewatch.

Ehhhhh. I still love Kevin but, this wasn't for me. I could see how someone would like it, but I haven't watched alot of the comic book movies he parodies in this flick. Still love the View Askewniverse!!!

Will Smith would be proud?

Not going to lie. I only watched this to see Chris Hemsworth. He didn't disappoint. However, it is not even slightly on par with the first 3 Men in Black movies. Will Smith made those films what they are and it was upsetting to not see him there or even see the same quality of film. Some of the characters where great though. Penny? Absolutely adorable and by far the best thing about this movie. The action fight scenes were alright and the ending was adequate but what I hated the most, and what I hate about a lot of movies now is the forced romance. Why did they feel the need to add so much tension between Agent H and Agent M? They were a great team but they don't need to be together to show that...

Fourth entry in the Men in Black series, reuniting Thor: Ragnoraknstars Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth as agents of the MiB organisation.

And, unfortunately - and despite their best efforts - neither actors are able to bring the same sense of fun and camaraderie as in that earlier Thor film, or even as Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones did in the original Men in Black films.

Mainly set in Europe instead of in the United States (hence the 'International' in the title), the plot of this is straightforward enough, with Tess's character of Agent M mostly performing the same role as Will Smiths Agent J did originally.

To put it simply, if you're not too keen on anything related to Jay & Silent Bob or Kevin Smith, then this entry is not going to change your mind!

The first film from way back in 2001 was already loveably dumb enough. It's collision of immature humour, social commentary, slapstick silliness and plentiful references to past Kevin Smith projects leant it an awkward charm, and things are no different this time around, with exception of everyone involved looking older.

The plot revolves around the titular duo traveling to Hollywood to stop the reboot of a comic book film featuring characters based on their likenesses (literally the same plot as the first). Cue plenty of remarks about the state of cinema and the unstoppable geyser of reboots/remakes/re-imaginings, followed by an absurd road trip, and everything feels familiar and homely.

Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith are just as likable as they every have been as Jay & SB, and the supporting characters, lead by Smith's daughter Harley Quinn, are much the same (although they took a bit longer to grow on me).
There is a veritable plethora of cameos and Clerks call backs peppered throughout, including the likes of Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Chris Hemsworth, Joey Lauren Adams, Melissa Benoist, Val Kilmer, Jason Biggs, Robert Kirkman....the list goes on and on. None of these inclusions feel particularly forced, and everyone seems pretty willing to be a part of the silliness.

The script is a mixed bag of decent gags, meta lines (sometimes a bit too over the top, to the point of almost insulting the audience!), Kevin Smith talking a whole bunch of shit about himself and some genuinely touching moments. Seriously - towards the films climax, I genuinely fretted that i might let out a little sob...
The truth is, I grew up watching films like Clerks, Dogma, Mallrats etc, and whenever a new entry is put out, I remember just how much these niche comedies mean to me. Jay & Silent Bob Reboot fits right in there with the rest of them.

It's not perfect by any means, but this is a film that can pull off Chris Jericho playing a KKK leader, Redman and Method Man giving parenting, whilst still including a lip wobbling tribute to the late Stan Lee (a we'll know fan of Kevin Smith and his work). How can anyone not appreciate that!?

The return of the View Askew-niverse
Some pretty sweet cameos
Kevin Smith returns to his roots... And it's awesome!!!!
When approaching Kevin Smith's work, I am apprehensive... His past forays into the realm of horror proved to ve a little too fucking weird for me... Red State was cool. Tusk was...well.... Tusk... And Yoga Hosers was almost a complete bust... Johnny Depp was hilarious... But it was still a fail for me.
Enter Red Bank New Jersey... The land of Askew... The home of the Stash... And the birth place of Clerks...
What could go wrong???
I admit I was skeptical to have him return to the characters that made him a superstar in the writer/director world. But my apprehension soon faded during the opening 5 minutes... I was nearly crying with laughter and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
This return proves that you never forget where you came from...
Smith reopens a universe he never should have left. It felt like he became comfortable writing a script for people he loved. He returned to what was fun for him... Making a movie with his friends. And if that is where he is comfortable and does his best work. Then that's where he should be.
Jason Mewes is the unsung hero of this film. He took a different turn playing Jay this time around. He kept up with the dick and fart jokes that made him who he is and expanded it to include a performance that was actually heart felt. Little bastard almost made me cry ffs.
With appearances by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and even Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth... Reboot is going to put Smith back where he belongs... On top of a game that he started, making movies with his friends and family... And making people laugh their asses off....
Snootch to the mutha fuckin Nuge...

Strong chemistry between Smith and Holland
Blue Sky Animation Studios has often been seen as the "poor little sister" in the animation game - behind Disney/Pixar and Dreamworks - and is often listed as the "Ice Age" studio. But, if you look into their filmography, you will see a solid mark of quality throughout.

This studio has delivered solid animated outings with such fare as ROBOTS, HORTON HEARS A WHO, RIO and FERDINAND (along with the myriad of ICE AGE films) and their latest feature - 2019's SPIES IN DISGUISE - is no exception. I was pleasantly surprised by the fun, action, comedy and suspense of this film and was entertained throughout.

Blue Sky, of course, IS the "poor little sister" to the "Big 2" and it shows in some of their casting choices. Where I thought vocal work was being done by Tina Fey and Holly Hunter, I soon discovered that it is Rachel Brosnahan and Reba Mcintyre - not shabby at all, but not quite the "A" team either (it's like you are listening to the Broadway replacement actors for the Original Cast).

That is probably because they spent all of their casting money on the 2 leads - Will Smith and Tom Holland - and they are TERRIFIC together. Unlike Holland's lackluster (and lack of chemistry) turn with Chris Pratt in the PIXAR film ONWARD, Holland and Smith work well together in this film and I enjoyed their interactions with each other. Of course, Will Smith is in a league of his own when it comes to charming, cocky adventure hero with raw emotions and a soul - and that is EXACTLY what his character is and it works very, very well. Add to that Holland's riff on his Spiderman Peter Parker character - a scientific genius who is socially awkward and we have a fun duo to root for throughout this film.

Other outstanding voice talents in this cast include Masi Oka (who's voice would be terrific in just about ANY animation film), Rashida Jones, Karen Gillen and the always good Ben Mendelsohn as the villain.

Directors Nick Bruno (in his Directorial debut) and Troy Quane (in only his 2nd Animated outing) do a professional job keeping the plot moving, the fun brewing and the plot and action scenes simple and easy to follow (an easy thing to screw up) and this makes SPIES IN DISGUISE a very fun escape for an hour and 42 minutes.

Letter Grade: B+

Nice refreshing direction
I never read the blurb before going to see this because I wanted to be surprised and this film did not disappoint.

Take what you know about Spider-Man and put it to one side because this comes at it in a totally original way.

From the very outset this is one trippy, fast paced well thought up movie, it came from the minds who brought you the brilliant 21 jump street and the excellent Lego movie I speak of Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

I loved everything about this movie from the animation, which was part movie , part graphic novel, good balance of action and story

the soundtrack fits it with the bouncy non stop visuals. I have had the soundtrack playing non stop ever since there is just something so catchy about it, I know some only work in the context of the film but this works outside it which is great. Some familiar names you may know are Nicki Minaj, Jayden Smith and Post Malone.

The voice acting is brilliant as something birthed by Marvel I wouldn’t expect anything less, see below for the link to actors featured, the directors were Rodney Rothman, Peter Ramsey and Bob Persichetti , they took the vision Phil and Chris had and brought it to life in a new and refreshing way.

I would definitely recommend this if you are a Spider-Man fan or even if your new to him, with laugh out loud moments and genuinely touching times this is a brilliant twist on what I know as Spider-Man.

Meh In Black
A fourth instalment of the MIB series isn’t a film anyone was really crying out for but never the less here it is. Unfortunately its watchable but ultimately quite underwhelming. All though they aren’t a patch on Smith and Jones I thought Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson weren’t actually bad casting and they do successfully replicate the chemistry they had in ‘Thor – Ragnarok’ and certainly try their best but are sadly let down by some pretty weak writing. The plot is messy and convoluted and the humour feeling pretty forced where the original was sharp and snappily written , it’s certainly a job to have any real emotional investment in what is going on . The effects let it down a bit as well with the alien creatures looking as obviously CGI as they did in the over 20 year old original. It’s not terrible though , you can certainly get some enjoyment out of it if you are in the mood for something fast moving and undemanding but you might struggle to remember what it was all about a couple of hours later. Hopefully the franchise ends here.

Saw II (2005)
Saw II (2005)
2005 | Horror, Mystery
The best of the Saw sequels and the only one I went to the cinema to see.
The original Saw is fantastic and the twist you dont see coming ending is one of, if not the best I have ever seen.
Saw 2 is nearly as good. The main house trap is a stroke of genius and the solo traps for each of the victims are so well planned and just look so devilious.
Darren Lynn Bousman directs (as he will the new Saw reboot involving Chris Rock) as Tobin Bell, with that amazing voice, retruns to play John Krammer/Jigsaw and he is hunted down by Mark Whalbergs detective Eric Matthews.
This leads to a tense standoff in Jigsaws lair as Matthews discovers his son, Daniel is one of the participants in the house trap. A house slowly filling with nerve gas.
Also returning is Shawnee Smith as Amanda who is also playing the game again in the house.
As the film twists towards its shocking ending you realise all you have to do is follow the rules to win the game.

Game Over
