Following up Dracula, we get this bout an hour drama, with a slight horror twist at the end. Made with actual side show performers, the main 'horror' at the time was people outside the norm.... who actually are the compassionate centerpiece of the movie. Kinda boring really, but I though Dracula was too.... and don t get me wrong, I love some old black n whites. A good watch for cinema history, but not something you're gonna rewatch a lot.

"I saw Le samouraï for the first time at Cinema 21 in Portland, Oregon, when I was a teenager. The main reason I went was because of an ad in the alternative weekly that said it was John Woo’s favorite movie (which meant a lot to me when I was sixteen). Over the last twenty or so years I have enjoyed it for many reasons: Alain Delon’s embodiment of cool, its evocation of 1960s Paris, its melancholy reflection on self-sufficiency and isolation."

"Steven Soderbergh totally rocks. He is the bravest, smartest, most original filmmaker in the U.S. today. I don’t like all his films, but I not only like but admire most of them; and even in his minor work there is still more genuine love and understanding of cinema than in the most accomplished works of some others. Che, the one movie ever made that seriously deals with military strategy, helped me imagine Carlos on a scale that otherwise would have intimidated me."

"I love this movie and its revisionist style and its radical politics, but most importantly there is no more punk-rock move in cinema history than having the opening credits be the checks that you’re writing to the cast and crew. Godard—the rich-kid film nerd to end all rich-kid film nerds—gets the machinations of the motion picture “industry” better than any of us. Contempt is masterful, Weekend is a lark, Tout va bien burns everything to the ground."

"Train Station Fight Hero fights with two people are the most fun to choreograph and probably also the most entertaining to watch. This film was a long time in the making – almost three years. The actors trained hard to learn martial arts and it all shows in this scene. Zhang Ziyi’s bagua and Max Zhang’s xingyi are on full display and we incorporated the best moves from each style. It was the perfect culmination of martial arts, hard work, and cinema."

"Few films have ever satiated my appetite for an experience of pure cinema the way Cul-de-sac did the first night I watched it. It’s a film that doesn’t strictly belong to any one genre but dances between thriller, psychological horror, and comedy. One of my favorite actors, the hugely undervalued Donald Pleasence, turns in a career-best performance as a highly pedantic, sexually frustrated, oddball English husband, while his fiery young French wife is played with dangerous irresistibility by Françoise Dorléac."

Well unsurprisingly Cineworld have now announced that they will be closing over the coming weeks, in the hope they may be able to reopen next year. It's a blow for those of us who like going regularly, but considering there's no big films due out (now Bond has been pushed back) and there was barely anyone at the cinema in the past few months, I can't blame them. I just hope they can reopen next year and aren't forced to close permanently! 😕

I'm fully expecting this to happen to Regal to (owned by the same people). The theater has been deserted, and I've been one of the only people there. The studios majorly messed the theaters over. I don't know how many more times I can see Tenet, I've already seen it 4x by now. This is the worst.

I really don't understand why they're pulling all the films. It's not like live theatres that are always virtually full and have to be. The screens in my cinema have never been full to capacity over the years and I know covid has probably lowered audience numbers a little, but don't the studios see that if they showed the films, people will go to see them?

Again, the same as Prometheus, I liked the movie despite hearing lots of other negative reviews. In this movie they hearkened back to using more models rather than heavily relying on CGI. Such disturbing scenes and I wasn't the only one in the cinema who giggled at the weird flute playing scene.
overall, I loved this movie and will watch it again when I get the opportunity. Loved exploring all the new worlds and seeing the cool new xenomorph creations.

Juat watched at the cinema thought it was rather good watching one man's desent into madness while society around burns around from corruption and greed Joaquin phoenix plays the Joker just right he makes u want to route for him both laugh and cry. With support from the likes of Robert de Nero which made think of a similar movie which De Nero did king of comedy. Anyway hod phoenix should get a Oscar nomination for his performance
