"Romeo + Juliet. I was always a big Leo fan and Claire Danes fan. And Baz Luhrman just, I dunno, looked into my soul. I think I was maybe 12 when that came out, 11. It had an effect on me that made me wanna be an actor."

"The next movie on my list, which is Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, starring Leo [DiCaprio] and Claire Danes, that was the movie where I was like, “I want do this for a living.” It was one of the few times in my life that I’ve been truly jealous of a bunch of actors."

For a straight to DVD film this is actually a pretty good thriller. Gere and Claire Danes give good performances about a tough subject matter. They monitor sex offenders in the community, when a teenage girl is kidnapped in the area their suspicions are raised. A bit slow at the start but the second half of the film is good cat and mouse stuff. Don't expect much of Avril Lavigne in this though, a one scene cameo is all you get from her in this.

Better than the critics would have you believe
Kyra Sedgwick plays a workaholic mum who is working the night her daughter goes missing. Her performance is one of the high spots as her life unravels around her and she doesn't know who to trust reminds me a bit of Claire Danes performance in the first season of Homeland.

There are some plot holes but not enough to ruin the series and the twists and turns in the story keep you wanting to watch the next episode.

Who can she trust, who is helping her and who is against her are all things that crop up in this series where every episode is a different day with some parts told in flashback.

Recommended, even if the critics didn't particularly like it
