The Monster Squad is of course a 80s classic, and one of the great gateway horrors for a younger audience to enjoy.

Its biggest selling point is it's premise and the subsequent rogues gallery of classic horror monsters, as a group of misfit school kids (and Rudy, that weird older teenager who hangs round younger kids because it makes him feel cooler or some shit) take on the likes of Frankenstein's Monster, The Wolfman, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and their leader Count Dracula. It's a hell of a lot of fun, especially for people who enjoy the old Universal movies.

The whole cast are pretty likable, a decent screenplay thanks to Shane Black and director Free Dekker, and delivers some solid effects work to top it all off.

Really loved the classic songs, makes you remember what fantastic music these guys made. Great 'behind the scenes' story. (0 more)

Not bad, but alot crammed into a short time, lots more could have been added, but guess that would have made it a 5 hour film 🤔 (0 more)

Really great look at Freddies life, how it all began, things he had to endure over the years, to writing the classic hits. The bit that brought me to tears is when he went to the hospital for diagnosis and the track playing is 'who wants to live forever'. This film will take you on highs and lows, and at the end you'll just be left with your mouth open, thinking, BLOODY WOW! Highly recommended watch if you haven't done so already.

Classic Eddie Murphy

An old school classic comedy that showcases a great comedic actor at his very best.This was Eddie Murphy is at his most funniest (and serious in parts) role ever (imo anyway)

Murphy plays an african prince who wants to find a woman who will love him for himself not because he is royalty so he decides to head over to America to find said bride.He poses as a poor african student and when he eventually does find that special woman he goes all out to win her over while trying to keep his identity a secret.

A sequel is due to this next year (32 years after the original!!) and I just hope they dont ruin the legacy of the original with a painfully unfunny film.
