Sara (80 KP) rated Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Remix in Video Games
Aug 24, 2017
Brings classic games to a modern system. (1 more)
Brought final mix to tbe United States.
No way to use the original enemy skins. (2 more)
358/2 is just cutscenes and the journal.
Recoded is just cutscenes and the journal
Love these games!
This is one my favorite game series of all times. It gets an 8 mostly due to the fact that 358/2 is unplayable. Other than that the games were updated to include content previously unavalible in North America. This includes the Data Battles in 2 and extra secret bosses in 1. All in all its a great collection to own.

It was true to the animated classic that we all know and love!! There was a couple of added scenes and some things were altered for the sake of the live action shoot. My favorite added scene was the trip to where Belle was born, it added so much more to the story and the characters connection with each other. I also loved the development of the character Belle, the way we get more depth and background with her versus what we got in the original animated movie story. All in all I have to say was very impressed with the movie!!!
The Marinated Meeple (1853 KP) rated Jurassic Park III: Island Survival Game in Tabletop Games

2 points for plastic dinosaurs.... the rest is useless.
Use the pieces to to come up with your own board game, it would be better than the rules provided anyway. This is your classic (boring and uninteresting) roll and move, but it takes 5 bites to kill a person? T-Rex is usually a one biter, maybe two at best with a puny human. Or at least it should be. Someone make some good rules and post it here. Any aspiring game designers want to take a crack at this one?
Erika (17789 KP) rated The Mysteries of Udolpho in Books
Feb 2, 2019
The Mysteries of Udolpho is commonly known as the first 'Gothic Novel', and is cited in Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. I wish that in British Literature/HS European Literature classes in the USA taught this instead of Jane Eyre.
This book is very long, which may seem daunting, but I believe it's worth it. I enjoy Radcliffe's writing style as well. You can really see why this book is used as a template for many gothic novels/films, like Crimson Peak.
Again, this won't be to everyone's taste, but if you like classic literature, I consider it a must-read.

E Riley (6 KP) rated The Secret Garden in Books
Feb 8, 2019
To really appreciate I believe this must be read or reread, as an adult. Not to or for a child, but to yourself. The descriptions of the garden are beautiful, the change in the children can be felt as well as seen. It really is quite remarkable and I'm sad I never knew how good it really was until now.
If I had a criticism it would be that I would have preferred a fraction longer at the end to really complete the story, even if just a page or two more.
A classic to be owned.

Erin Horner (30 KP) rated Us (2019) in Movies
Jun 1, 2019 (Updated Jun 1, 2019)
I thought this film was really interesting and I didn't know what to expect which is always good. I loved Get Out so I was really excited for this and it didn't disappoint. I think I may need to give it a rewatch because there's a lot of information to take in. Part of it feels like it could be a classic chic flic when the mums are just sitting on the beach together and the other half of it is really spooky and weird. Definitely keeps you on the age of your toes and it's unlike anything I've seen before.

Awesome remake of a horror classic
There isn't really anything bad to say about this film despite a lot of critisism of the CGI effects of Pennywise the dancing clown. I, however disagree and believe that this version was far more chilling than the first version. Pennywise was back on form with his creepy and outright terrifying behaviour. The plotline rarely strayed from the original script and the cast did well to keep you engrossed in the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and was quite excited when I picked up the dvd yesterday.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2456 KP) rated It Happened One Knife (Double Feature Mystery #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Comedy Theater owner Elliot Freed is thrilled to meet his film idols Lillis & Townes when he hosts a special screening of their classic CRACKED ICE. But when he learns that Townes may have killed his wife 50 years before, Elliot just has to investigate. I was disappointed with the first in this series, but I really enjoyed this one. The characters were more likable, the plot much stronger, and the laughs were present in droves.

Kristy H (1252 KP) rated Bootlegger's Daughter (Deborah Knott Mysteries, #1) in Books
Feb 13, 2018
Not a classic, but certainly an enjoyable mystery novel. First in a rather large series (up to 12 books now, I think) featuring Deborah Knott. Deborah, the so-called bootlegger's daughter, is an attorney in a small North Carolina town. As often happens in such series, crime seems to follow her wherever she goes. In this book, she looks to solve a cold case murder that occurred when she was very young... and her investigation leads to several more deaths.
Margaret Maron's books are quite engaging and fun-to-read... I blew through this book in a few days.

Lindsay (1779 KP) rated The Bobbsey Twins on Blueberry Island (Original Bobbsey Twins #10) in Books
Feb 15, 2018
This a fun filled Classic. The kids in this book go to Blueberry Island and find a Mystery. Though before they do they are in a mystery before leaving.
The two sets of twins are independent and though they also follow though with listening to their father and mother. To start this book they see the caravans that they think that are a part of the curious well the little twins do. There father comes home to find out what the problem is in the street near this house.
This book is great for children and quite enjoyable. I would recommend it.
