"Well The Shining I thought a lot about, because we did Stephen King’s 1408, which was another movie set in a hotel room, and the madness of that. But I think just seeing it in theaters, you know — I think it’s when you saw it. My mom was from Boston, so we used to go to Nantucket, and it was the summer and I remember I snuck away in the afternoon to go see it, at around 4 or 6 o’clock or something, and when I came back out it was dark and I had to walk down this dark street alone. And I remember being really, I mean really scared coming out of that theater; like, I did not want to leave the street lights to walk home. The other experience I remember was I saw Apocalypse Now in the theaters and I remember coming out of that and I almost couldn’t speak. Stunned."

the queer rom-com we’ve needed!!
This film was so cute. Equal parts cheesy, romantic, funny, and queer. The hardest part about LGBTQ+ movies is where they fall on a stereotypical line or whether or not they’re coming out stories or coming of age stories - all of which have importance some places. But what we’ve desperately needed for so long is a queer story that is just about love and the characters just happen to be queer.

LGBTQ+ love isn’t any different than heterosexual love. Everyone wants that connection, that passion, that person to come running home to. This movie is that, and so much more. Jake Borelli is amazing and definitely someone to keep an eye out for. I can’t wait to see what he does next.

Multiple perspectives done right
I have loved this debut book from author Riley Redgate for years. It was the first time I had ever seen a pan character in a book and that really helped me during my coming out process. It also tackles something I love about books, mixed perspective. Seven different narrators that all have different vices and lives and secrets.

I picked up this book as a film version is coming out and I must admit, I'll probably watch it at some point. The love story itself for this novel is serviceable, but I could predict the entire plot within the first 20 pages and, at times, actually found myself cringing and rolling my eyes as I was reading certain lines. Not fun.

A Great 'Escape'
Meltzer opens the novel with an interesting twist, and the turns and twists keep coming. He is able to write an intriguing thriller and keep us interested in the characters as well. This novel sold so many copies that in its third week after the release, Amazon ran out of copies.

This drama on Netflix is about a bully and hits part coming back ri haunt him. Even moreso, how he didn't actually grow out of his ways and it ends up screwing up his life. The story unfolds really well and the acting and cinematography were spot on. Jason Bateman played his roll great. Everyone did. This one is REALLY worth a watch!

Hearing about this classic coming out story I had to give it a go. I was expecting to like it more than I did. While I liked the main character, she was fierce and strong headed, she came across as quite anti-hetero and definitely anti motherhood; I must admit that made me a bit uncomfortable.
3 Stars from me.

Rolling Stone's 16th greatest album of all time
The Dylan albums are coming pretty thick and fast now, and it is hard to see why this one supposedly stands out as better than those lower down the list. Admittedly it has been a week since i listened to it but i can't really remember anything from it, even looking over the tracklisting.

"This collection of poetry and prose is a little like going for a long hike out into the redwoods and coming upon a beautiful library, well lit, and cozy and there’s no one but you and all these amazing books that you are welcome to read as long as you treat everything with the respect it deserves. Wouldn’t that be an amazing experience?"
