Crass, crude and clumsy. I couldn't wait to finish this book. I found the storyline ridiculous and was patched together with lots of lectures about the plight of Africa. Whilst I think that enlightening us all about the corruption and aid problems is a noble cause, the way it was shoehorned in around this ludicrous poorly written story was a shameful insult for a novel.

"I love L.A. Confidential. If it’s on for even a second, I just watch it to the end. I almost want to call my cable service provider and ask them not to show it any more, because it has overwhelmed my life. It’s because I’m from California, from Los Angeles, because the idea of police corruption, of political ambition, of logic and defying expectations. Really, Bud White is Rudy, in the thug cop questing for detective greatness. [laughs] There’s something about that. Also, the way that it commingles all of the ideas of pornography and politics and financial development and mob power and drugs. You know, I studied history and English at UCLA, and one of the big themes in a bunch of our history classes had to do with, “How is it that Los Angeles and Hollywood and California present themselves to the world as both this destination place of palm trees and glitter and gold and your future, and also corruption and deceit?” There’s this duality to it, and I just think that Curtis Hanson’s way of delivering that… And the performances! I mean, David Strathairn and Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger and Kevin Spacey and James Cromwell… Police corruption, and justice, vigilante justice, and it’s just got everything. It’s just a perfect movie."

Cagney was gangster movies in the early days of Hollywood. No one did it better, though many tried. Bogart is in this one too, so what more could you want? Iconic in every sense, with a final scene often paid homage to. Some prefer The Roaring Twenties or The Public Enemy, but the direct showdown of corruption vs the priesthood, plus some incredible black and white photography, make this golden oldie the one for me.

"The two supreme works of childhood/horror. Lamentations of worlds lost and the innocents trapped in them. Sublime fairy tales of despair that depict the adult world as a toxic environment for kids to exist in. Secret treasures kept in the hearts of children must be safeguarded from the corruption of an adult world full of certainty and arrogance. Both films are so beautiful and so dark—they truly make me weep in awe."

Mystic Vale: Vale of the Wild
Mystic Vale: Vale of the Wild
2017 | Card Game, Fantasy, Game Expansion
Vale of the Wild adds new mechanics to the Mystic Vale game, enabling new and novel strategies. It adds leaders, which can focus your game and give you a boost in the slow early game. It also adds cards that care about corruption, either by having as few cards in your field as possible, or as many red symbols as possible for extra points. It adds variety to the lone original strategy of as many green symbols as possible

High and Low (1963)
High and Low (1963)
1963 | Drama, Mystery, Thriller

"Kurosawa’s High and Low is one of the greatest and most contained crime thrillers ever made, with the first half largely confined to one location, and the second half venturing out into a real and deeply divided world. Brian De Palma’s Blow Out is a nihilistic portrait of political corruption, featuring John Travolta at his most blazingly charismatic. These are without a doubt two of the films that made me want to make films. They’re that inspiring."

Where is the dialogue?
There there is very little dialogue in this movie. Nearly all of the movie is a gun fight or fist fight. But wbyyyyyy?

It's endless violence on violence. Basically, if you've seen Peter Griffin fight the chicken on Family Guy, you've seen this movie, just a little government corruption added to the mix.

If you're in the mood for relentless violence, you might like this movie. Other than that, the whole thing is pointless.

Good but hard
Rebel Inc.

The tutorial offers a small insite to the game but is a little placid

The actual game in contrast is the other extreme and I found too much of a challenge to the point its become boring.. the enemy spawns everywhere and corruption is rife and impossible to stop.

All in all good game mechanics but too hard
