Where to next?
To play it safe, I borrowed this book from the library - who knows what to expect from an actor who has decided that he wants to write? To say that I'm surprised by this collection of short stories would be an understatement. They have an old fashioned feel to them: the use of language reminds me of movies set in the 20s - 30s. Perhaps it's because he typed them all up on one of his old-fashioned typewriters? Some interesting stories: a bit of time travel, a couple of immigrant stories and much more (it's a big book!). The newspaper-column type stories didn't do it for me, I'm afraid, and I skipped them.
I'm interested to see where he goes with this next!!

I’m someone who hates to sit through a movie again, but I’ve already seen this one twice! Just the scenery is beautiful to look at, but there are so many great parts of film. The re-entrance of Luke and Yoda is enough to warm any Star Wars fan’s heart. The connection between Rey and Kylo Ren is tense and exciting and ends powerfully! I hated how Leia got back onto the cruiser, however; it was weird and awkward. Finn wasn’t as lovable in this film, either. Other than those two things, this episode is AMAZING! Can’t wait for the next film!

You have to stick with it
Red Nexus is a magnificent book, but it did take me a while to read it as I kept putting it off again and again. Sammy and Andrei were my favourite characters from the beginning, right until the end. When Wen's heart broke, mine followed right after. Joe always surprised me. The way technology was used in this book really made me think about it some more. Is this where we are headed? Could this be our future? It actually caused me to ask a lot of questions. The last couple of chapters made me feel like getting up and doing something more with my life. It made me empowered. When they cheered, I cheered.

Cheap and Easy
Wish is an app where you buy goods directly from China, thus allowing for super cheap pricing and sometimes questionable quality. I have bought countless items from them in nearly every category and have rarely been burned. One the couple of occasions I have had an issue (a hole in a pair of pants, an item that never showed up) the customer service was apologetic and quickly refunded me for the items. My favorite things to get from wish are sunglasses and jewelry items, but you can get pretty much ANYTHING - just be prepared to wait for it, as most things will take around a month to arrive.

Clank!: A Deck-Building Adventure
Clank!: A Deck-Building Adventure
2016 | Adventure, Fantasy
I love deck-builders & this was one of the first I played. Although very unique, as far as they go, I didn't find myself enjoying it. I hated moving around the map. Fast-forward to a couple of months ago & I tried it again. After the game, one of the other guys playing whispered to me "Did you like that game?" And I immediately said no. He didn't like it either. I had forgotten my first game, as it was so long ago. But the second game refreshed my memory. I'm giving the game 4/10 as I like the artwork & design of the game. I like the unique game-play of the game. But I don't like actually playing it.

I really enjoyed reading this book and practically read it in one shot. Libby was a great character; I related to her (to a certain extent) and thought she was fairly realistic. However, there were a couple of things that bothered me: did the author have to make Ed a complete bore? I don't think it's bad to have two decent love interests. Second, did Nick have an upper-class raising or not? Lastly, the ending was too abrupt, I would have like there to have been a chapter or epilogue more; seemed to me that there were a few loose ends. Otherwise, I found it to be an easy, fast, and fun read. Jane Green's books haven't disappointed me yet.

Just what DC needed

I myself am a huge DC fan boy and over the past couple of years I have seen ups and downs with DC. Finally after Wonder Woman and Aquaman, DC has started to get back into the grove. I have always wanted DC films to be dark and gruesome but Shazam is something of a charmer. It's funny fresh and doesn't try to hard to be something it's not. The characters are brilliant and the Easter eggs throughout the film are brilliant and would make any DC fan scream with delight. It's a great story of an orphan child and the difficulties faced but seeing what a true hero can be is great to see!

Harry Bosch is back working homicide, and his first case involves a body left in a car trunk. It looks like the victim was the victim of a mob hit, and he has connections in Las Vegas. Is the case really going to be that simple?

Bosch’s cases are always fun, and this book is no exception. I was able to spot a couple of the twists coming a little early, but that was a minor complaint. The characters are strong, both returning and new. A face from Bosch’s past comes back into his life here, and I love his new lieutenant.

Hattie's summer in Newport doesn't go quite as planned when she finds herself as a social secretary to an upward climbing socialite. Add to that labor relations issues and a murder. Can Hattie figure out what is happening?

This was my introduction to the series, but I had no problems jumping in here. The trip back to the 1890's was interesting, and all the characters were very well developed. I just felt the pacing got off a couple of times. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
