Ameeka (131 KP) rated Life (2017) in Movies
Jul 15, 2017
Visually impressive (2 more)
Fast paced
Good cast
A flawed but enjoyable space movie
While the movie was acted well and the depiction of alien life form was interesting, the plot was quite bare. The characters didn't have enough development and had no depth regarding their relationships to each other. I liked this sci-fi thriller, though our astronauts seemed to lack some common sense and weren't as believable. The alien life form was original in design, but felt unrealistic in the power and intelligence gained in such a short period of time. The movie didn't do anything new and creative, but it was a fun film. However, the ending was predictable and kind of disappointing.
Bubblesreview (110 KP) rated Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children in Books

Unique plot (2 more)
Realistic pictures
Imaginative
Very unique story
If you haven't watched the film yet then my advice is, don't watch it. Stick to the book. I fortunately read the book first before the film like I do with every movie that's made from a book. The movie changed alot of the characters, very disappointing. The book however, I absolutely loved reading this! I've never read such an imaginative and creative book, and not just the plot either, the way the book is presented and the author went to the effort of creating photographs that could be passed off as real. Very real. I would happily read this again. Can't wait to start on the next book.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2444 KP) rated A Pocket for Corduroy in Books
Mar 9, 2018
One day while at the laundromat, teddy bear Corduroy decides he needs a pocket. His search for one introduces him to some strange new things. Can he find a pocket? Will Lisa be able to find him?
Even as a kid, I liked this book more than Corduroy’s first adventure. I think it’s because of the creativity. We know what Corduroy finds along his way, but his explanations for them are creative, logical, and fun. The illustrations capture the book perfectly, and will please kids and parents alike. This is one all ages can enjoy.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2444 KP) rated Deadly Heat (Nikki Heat, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Nikki is juggling two cases. She's working a serial killer leaving a weird clue to tie his murders together when someone connected with her mother's murder case tries to kill her. Can she juggle both while dodging bureaucratic red tape?
As usual, the writing is a bit hard to get into, but once I do, I get lost in the story. The characters could be a bit better developed as well. Honestly, both are minor flaws because I have fun with this book. Very creative tie in, and I am already looking forward to the next one.

Freddy Krueger and a topographical map of Utah
My 11 year old son is so chuffed that im letting him see this - his friend has an older brother so often gets to see 15 certificates. But nobody has seen Deadpool yet in his circle so he’ll deffo get some Kudos of his own.
I know that the violence and swearing won’t offend/inspire/distress him to copy anything.
Unless he learns to reheal and shoot like Mr Pool.
