Awix (3310 KP) rated Lost Horizon (1973) in Movies
Apr 26, 2019 (Updated Apr 26, 2019)
You know how some films are hilariously bad? This is not one of them. This one is just jaw-droppingly awful: poorly-staged (the remote lamasery resembles a resort hotel) and stuffed with terrible creative decisions (John Gielgud plays an Asian character called Chang, through the miracle of sticky tape on his eyelids). Once the shock wears off it is more gruelling to watch than anything else; you stay to the end out of a sense of sheer disbelief more than anything else.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2444 KP) rated Delivering the Truth (Quaker Midwife Mystery, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
This is a good series debut. I had a little trouble keeping track of the characters at the beginning, but I quickly got them all straight, and I grew to care for them by the end. The plot is good with some nice complications and a creative climax. I’m looking forward to visiting Rose again in more books.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2444 KP) rated The Baker Street Jurors (Baker Street Letters, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
I’ve enjoyed the letters to Sherlock aspect of the earlier books in the series. In this book, that played a very small part of the story, so small it almost didn’t really matter. The mystery and the court case were interesting, but the plot was still a little weak. Fans of the series will enjoy spending time in this world, but the earlier books were more creative.

Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Zen Pencils: Creative Struggle in Books
Jul 12, 2018
The artwork in this graphic novel is really fun. I enjoyed looking at the artwork and I really loved how it was illustrated.
All in all, the artwork, the words, everything was perfect.

James Koppert (2698 KP) rated Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown in Music
Nov 2, 2019
The beats are on the abstract side a la Kool Keith, but again, just enough to stay on the side of commercial sounding without being too 'alternative'. Then there is his voice and flow. Danny Brown sound cartoonish and ever so slightly deranged and as a rapper his flow is not exactly on point but it works. It all comes together and sounds very good.
Like Eminem, it's difficult to listen to too many tracks next to each other, but take them Indavidualy and you will enjoy this album extremely.
