Acanthea Grimscythe (300 KP) rated Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit in Books
May 16, 2018
If you’re reading this review, chances are you’re either a) a true crime buff or b) curious as to what the source material of Netflix’s latest original series, Mindhunters, is based on. That title, Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by John Douglas is actually a fascinating read that details a division of the FBI that, had it not been created, would leave us without shows like Criminal Minds, where the Behavioral Science Unit profiles killers and races the clock to save victims that may still be alive. (Also, we wouldn’t have our Shemar Moore and wouldn’t that be a crying shame? We need our Morgan and Baby Girl.)
Reading more like Douglas is sitting in the room beside you and recounting his past, Mindhunter, as expected, delves into some pretty deep material. For a while, I had to put it down because the ATKID murders dug beneath my skin. Despite the sometimes gory details Douglas provides readers with, I feel this is an important title for any true crime fan. After all, it is Douglas that a certain character from Silence of the Lambs is based on.

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated Baby Driver (2017) in Movies
Jun 26, 2017
Baby Driver is a fifth gear joy ride of millennial cool and old-school car stunt acrobatics. Nicolas Wingding Refn’s Drive lifted liberally from Walter Hill’s 70s crime classic The Driver.

My favourite podcast
MFM is hilarious, I love listening to it as much as I can. I am a massive fan of true crime and this podcast has it all. It doesn't take itself too seriously but covers sensitive subjects with respect (and a few giggles)

The best yet!
The spoof crime season is back for a third outing. It has a good cast and for me the best script yet. The jokes come think and fast. It's really well written. If you like a good spoof you'll enjoy this.

Exceptionally interesting, shockingly horrific and really good watch
Excellent script and performances which are done with great respect. The film doesn't linger on the horrors of the actions of Bundy but rather concentrates on the working of him and his relationship with the family that he connects himself with. This combining with the slow burning crime running parallel lifts it from being a generic retelling of the Bundy story. It's great that it doesn't use gore to tell the story which makes the court scenes more horrific in the reveal of the murders.
An all round classy, respectful thriller.
