Kevin Smith cult film
I had always meaned to watch this film since I'm a big Kevin Smith fan, but just had never gotten around to until now. If you go in thinking you will be watching Clerks or Chasing Amy you would be mistaken. Maybe more like his follow up movie, Tusk, than anything else.
It's kind of the story of three high school friends. One of them meets and lines up a "hook up" with a mysterious woman on a dating phone app so the hormone-filled teens race to score. Their initial meeting at the woman's trailer seems to be going well until the boys realize the woman has drugged their beers and the boys drop to the floor.
When they awaken, they realize they have been abducted, bound and gagged and are now going to have something bad happen to them courtesy of a crazy cult-like religious leader in front of his "flock" complete with women and children.
All doesn't go according to plan when the boys try and escape and then the feds show up outside to try and handle the situation. Tensions escalate quickly and the bullets start flying.
The movie started promising with kind of a Hostel meets Wicker Man vibe. I enjoyed the tension built as the teens try and assess their situation and figure a way out. You definitely quickly grow to hate the cult leader and his disciples as they do nasty things to others and blindly follow their leader to carry out his every order. I feel the movie falls apart in the last act.
Without giving anything away, the resolution wasn't satisfactory and a lot of things are explained at the end instead of being shown which was disappointing. Not sure if this was meant to be this way or they ran out of money and/or time so that's the way thing ended up.
Overall, I was entertained, but felt it lacked something to make the experience completely fulfilling.

A good modernization of the cult classic killer doll film.
As a man in my 30s, I grew up on the original Child's Play and the sequels that followed. So, I was half excited and half worried when this reboot/remake was announced. So many attempts by Hollywood to bring back beloved and cult classics have failed miserably and ruined the magic of the originals. Through the first 20 or so minutes of this one, I was worried this one would fall into this category. And while I wasn't completely thrilled with the film's liberties taken with the doll's origin story, it was easy to set aside due to some decent storytelling. You get to know Chucky in these scenes and a basis for his later acts is laid. You feel for him, and you laugh (a thing done often in the Child's Play canon.) Then, the 2nd and 3rd acts of the film ramp up and continue to build in an understandable, graphic gorefest with a horror plot to keep you riveted. Although I am a purist and would have preferred they stick closer to the original, I thoroughly enjoyed this modernization of the killer doll tale. (But I'll never forget Charles Lee Ray or the chant of dooey de dim bella, give me the power I beg of you!)

What's not to love about this film? A very cool Vampire film and exactly how a Vampire film should be. It still looks great today the effects don't look dated. The Vampires look like how you expect them to. It has some iconic scenes and great dialogue, not to mention funny as well. One of my fave Kiefer Sutherland films in one of his earlier roles. The rest of the young cast have great chemistry. It also has some great songs to cap it off. It simply oozes coolness and class, a true 80's cult classic!

Unremarkable
This is one of those books that I can’t really say much about, other than it was fairly unremarkable. It’s a typical thriller, that throws a number of twists and turns in but most are predictable or just a little dull. Concentrating on a cult is a smart move as this part is fairly interesting, it’s just a shame the rest isn’t. It isn’t helped by the fact that the majority of the characters are either very unlikeable or just under developed. Even the main character Sophia switches between very irritating to very boring. It’s a fairly quick read at least, but sadly one that’s immediately forgettable.

Cult horror from Bigelow and the supporting cast of Aliens boldly reinvents the vampire movie by dumping all the gothic trappings (coffins, crucifixes, bats) and tapping into more contemporary fears: the movie's band of wandering killer rednecks would be frightening even if they weren't vampires.
Genuinely unsettling, very influential: to be honest the leads are less memorable than the character turns from Henriksen, Paxton and Goldstein, but you go to watch a vampire movie for the vampires, don't you? Works just as well as a western, in its own way, too. The movie that The Lost Boys dreams of being when it grows up.

First of all, being a fan of BBC period dramas, I absolutely love the genre of the TV mini-series. And The 10th Kingdom is one of my all-time favorite. I remember watching it our recorded copy on video cassette (hard to believe its that old ?) as a child and I'm pretty sure that it was the source of my fascination with fairy tales. The special effects are actually surprisingly good. It's a pity that it took them so long to make this first series because it would have been interesting to learn about some of the other kingdoms in the second "book." Overall, such an amazing cult classic ?

Double tap is not as nearly as funny and fresh as the original, the added new characters didn't really add anything to it, the blonde bimbo air head cheerleader started off okay but by half way through her act you where praying she was bitten by a zombie , rosario dawson plays her usual kick ass chick takes no shit kinda girl all in all its watchable will never be a classic or a cult status movie, but it's oassable
