Not a comedy, but a beautiful drama
This is not a comedy. I repeat this is not a comedy. So if you read reviews saying that it is, they clearly have a very dark sense of humour. This is rather a tragically beautiful drama about writers attempting to make morale-boosting WWII movie which eventually ends up more pro-feminist than expected. The film is being made under perilous circumstances during the blitz, so there is a high casualty turnout. It is a romantic film, but not in the usual situation.
The cast includes some of finest British actors, with brilliant standout performances from Bill Nighy, a brief cameo from Jeremy Irons, Richard E Grant, Sam Clafin (Hunger Games, Me Before You), as well as better than usual performance from Gemma Arterton. I shed a few tears near the end. Hats off for showing women's role during the war effort.

Pretty funny, at times (1 more)
An interesting premise
Dragged a bit (1 more)
A little too heavy for a comedy
Dark surreal dystopian comedies need more humor
Good, not quite as darkly funny as I expected, seemed more concerned with the politics and "rules of the universe" than entirely necessary which kind of messed with the pacing dragged the humor a little bit. Other people were having a hard time understanding the world as built, anyway, so it seems a bit of wasted effort.

Shockingly good
I watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri after watching it receive a couple of awards. I was not disappointed.
This movie covers some hard topics - the pain a family goes through after the rape and murder of the daughter, the fact that the crime is unsolved, small-town interpersonal relationships, cancer, suicide, but still has the perfect script to make it a dark comedy. The actors all did fantastic jobs. I highly recommend this movie.

Forgettable. Starts off by threatening nuance by way of off-kilter dark comedy but then devolves into exactly what you'd think this was going to be: "lol fat guy got hit then fell down" again... and again... and again... and again. The only movie Hayek had less of a palpable role in than this was ππͺππ₯ ππͺππ₯ ππ¦π΄π΅. As expected Winkler is the best part. Joe Rogan comes in as himself for one scene and explains MMA fighting to the James character. Dullsville.
