Let's try this again...please disregard my previous review of this book...I wasn't paying attention and typed it on the wrong page...DUH!

I love this series! Where else can you find lesbian werewolves, half vampires, and horny demons in the same place?

Solid 4 stars!

Bitter Demons is the third book from The Shadow Demons Saga, and the third book of my challenge to read my sister’s books. If you haven’t read the two parts, you can read my reviews on my blog :

Beautiful Demons (The Shadow Demons Saga #1) - ★★★★

Inner Demons (The Shadow Demons Saga #2) - ★★★★

As a third book of this series, I have to be honest and say that this one didn’t deliver. I expected so much more to happen, and so many more questions to be answered.

The story continues where the second book ends, and now we have Harper, that knows she is a Prima and has great powers. She also really likes this handsome guy, who happens to be a Demon. And Demons can’t have relationships with Primas, because demons are supposed to be slaves, and witches are supposed to use their power.

When two Prima sisters come into town and Harper meets them, she becomes friends with Caroline, one of the sisters. They decide to play a game and swap their looks. But Caroline, who looks like Harper is attacked, which means that someone wants Harper dead - and Harper has to keep this a secret and resolve the mystery by herself.

Now, of course we get to see a lot of Harper in the book - after all, this book is about her. But we don’t get to see her character or story improve in any meaningful way.

We learn a lot about Jackson and his past, and his brother (ooooh… spooky), and how he tries very hard to resist Harper in any way, but ends up doing the exact opposite.

On another note, we are introduced to new characters, but also some of the old characters are given more time in this book and we get to know them better - which I might of not liked so much. Give me more Harper - please!

We meet Caroline - I loved their friendship with Harper and I loved how nice and cute she was. A bit naive, just like Harper, which maybe got her in trouble.

Mary Anne…Oh, Mary Anne... Even though we don’t get to meet her much and she always only shines in the end of the book, I loved the mysterious bit about her, and her will to make the sacrifice that she did. She was the hero for me in this book!

Brook - We got to see the mean side of her, and wow, how fast she changed! Can people really change that quickly and fall under pressure so easily?

I still love the story so much, and will of course read the rest of the books, but I didn’t enjoy this book as much I enjoyed the first two parts. I am hoping the next book will pleasantly surprise me.

In short, Demoni AKA Demons, is fucking wild.
For the most part, it's masquerading as a serious horror trip, with the odd burst of humour, and occasional 80s rock anthem thrown in. It subjects the viewer to nasty gore, disturbing practical effects, trippy cinematography, it's overall strangeness complimented by its slightly off dub work. It's uncomfortable in parts, certainly hypnotic in its execution.
All of this, before diving headfirst into schlock territory where a dude slaughters hordes of monsters with a katana whilst riding a motorcycle, as an Accept song blasts in the background. Pretty damn wonderful.

Rightly considered an essential 80s horror, Demons is still an effective movie today. Well worth any horror fan's time.

Plot twists
Bill Paxton was one of my favorite actors of all time. I was very sad when he passed away in 2017 at the young age of 61. He will leave a legacy of fantastic films including Aliens, Twister, One False Move, Apollo 13 and this film which he also directed.

Matthew McConaughey walks into the office of FBI agent Powers Boothe and begins telling a very unusual story. When he was a kid, his dad said he had a vision which gave him the ability to see "demons" within human beings. He is then given the task of "dispelling" the demons in front of his two young sons.

The film creates quite the moral dilemma for the audience as you feel for the boys and the dire predicament their father places them into. You also wonder whether he can really "see" the demons or he is just losing his mind.

The 3rd act of the film takes some interesting turns as the true nature of some of the characters is revealed. You will not see this one coming.

A real standout in the Paxton legacy.

Pre entertainment where good and evil fight
Derek Landy's 'Skullduggery Pleasant' series is great. i read them to my son, so when Demon road came out I got it for him and he recommended I read it too. I was pleasantly surprised, Landy has created a trilogy that is brilliant and very cinematic.

This takes place in our world and in our world are demons, some of whom have made deals with high demons for powers and in return has to do terrible things as payment. The lead character is the daughter of such demons but is a normal girl...until she hits puberty. But then she finds out her parents don't quite have her best interests at heart.

I don't read many teen books unless sent for me to review or because i am reading to my kids but this is a gripping brilliant read. it is so cinematic it deserves to become a movie.

Characters are very strong, the adventure is adrenaline fuelled and its done in a completely non cheesy way. Its brilliant and I went straight to book two afterwards.

This was a fun in a campy way, while still being relatable because the main characters are in high school. Some people might find it offensive though because "Jesus Christ" is exclaimed a lot. Plus, at one point the characters question whether God exists or not, since demons and monsters exist in this book.

Book 1 of the InuYasha series was full of action from the start, but it was not confusing. InuYasha is a half-demon who is after a magical stone that a girl named Kagome had in her possession when she entered his time. Other demons are after her since they found out that the stone has appeared again.

"“I’ve never read The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, but his later works are about whether God is real. I always re-read this. It’s about these two demons, and they’re talking about these people on Earth that they’re trying to get to go to hell. It has a really good insight into human cruelty."

For a short story/novella, this had everything that's included in Jenn Bennett's full length novels in this series; a mystery, some romance, and Jupe being Jupe :D

This was the boat trip from hell. Everything that could go wrong, did. Storms, demons, Jupe...

A great instalment in a series that I love. Straight onto book 3!
