Super Meat Boy
2015 | Action
Super Meat Boy is an exercise in patience. You may in fact deplore it in the first one or two hours due to its unforgiving gameplay and level design, but if you take the time to consume much of what it has to offer, you may just acquire a taste for it.

Looking dated now
A cult classic and for the time I can see why. However if watching it for the first time now, it looks very dated and the effects quite poor. Still it has its gory moments, a rather simple story and it could do with the cenobites being in the film a bit more. It did launch a whole load of sequels, 7 altogether?!

A good story for a film, based on the Anime film....from what I saw almost scene for scene the same? Sadly this is ruined by really dodgy CGI for the blood and gore. Some of the creature design is not so good either, and you'd barely known it had a vampire in it. It has a couple of great sword fights but not enough to save the film.

"I am very interested in how design and planning shapes cities and am always curious about the roots of transformation. Having spent much of my early career in New York where parts of the city were in disarray, I was captivated by the book, in awe of the community and New Yorker spirit which taught me so much about how a unique corner of Manhattan came to be."

"It’s funny how in the modern era of filmmaking (even in CG animation), we’re so infatuated with achieving a “real” look. Design is often tossed aside in favor of a more “relatable,” grounded aesthetic. It’s refreshing to watch something like Kwaidan (or even Kurosawa’s Dreams), where soundstages are embraced and dramatic, and colorful lighting is boldly employed. This is the way to haunt your audience: long, quiet, surreal moments."

Wow, this film has a powerful message that it seeks to portray. The acting by the cast is incredible and I think that they elevate this movie to a new level. The production design is amazing and really sells the film.

The film takes a minute to get its bearing and that might bore some viewers, but I enjoyed the pacing of the film. Solid film, I will watch again.

**BOOK SYNOPSIS**
A novel for our times. A saga for the ages.

On the eve of passing landmark immigration legislation, the entire Texas Senate and its native Tejano leader, Diego Reyes, vanish suddenly from Austin. When news of the disappearance hits West Texas, cowboy Del Woodward isn't shocked. He knows exactly where the lawmakers are, but he's not telling. Woody's been down on his luck, and a shady bargain he's made puts him tight in the squeeze of Marcos Cepeda, north Mexico's ruthless drug lord. And Cepeda's furious with this new stall in the bill. It's got a loophole he can exploit to add another quarter million square miles of exclusive turf to his cartel—but that territory goes back up for grabs if leader Reyes can't pass the bill before the Senate session expires in mere days. The brutal kingpin wants what he's bought and compels Woody to step up. How the cowboy swings the vote isn't important to Cepeda, but this sure is: if Woody breathes so much as a word of reluctance, it'll be his last. The prize is Texas, nothing less. It's real, and it's on.

The Republic Series launches from true pages of the Lone Star frontera story into a hauntingly modern arena of trade, trafficking, and tradition on the Rio Grande in To the Republic: BOOK ONE.
