Speak of the Devil (Broken Halos #2) by Maya Daniels
Speak of the Devil is the second book in the Broken Halos series, and we reunite with Hel and Eric. Hel is being held prisoner by Michael, as Eric desperately searches for her. Help comes from an unexpected source, and Hel is freed. Of course, it doesn't stop there, because then it would be a very short book. Instead, Hel starts gaining new powers, Eric has to tune down his monster-mash rage, they have sexy times, oh, and try to find Hector before he loses any further body parts.

Hel's attitude is as sassy as ever, and I love how she goes toe to toe with Eric. Maddison is a blast, although I know there is more to her than meets the eye. Raphael has a story he doesn't want to share, which just makes me want it all the more. All in all, this is a non-stop read, full of action and chaos.

Ending on a cliffhanger (just like book one), this will definitely leave you wanting more. A great second book, and definitely recommended by me.

I've read a lot of Rachel Caine books: 13 of 15 of her Morganville Vampires series, all of her Weather Warden books and 2 of 3 in her Revivalist series.

This and it's sequel, Devil's Due which I'll start any minute, are nothing like what I've come to expect, but they were written several years earlier than the books mentioned above. This wasn't as paranormal as I was expecting, what with the name of the book but even so I wasn't disappointed with the story at all.

It centres on two females who've never met but are brought together to form a detective agency and given jobs by a lawyers firm. Only things aren't as straight forward as they appear.

I really enjoyed the romance between Jazz and (James) Borden. It was drawn out but it was constant throughout the book and I think I have to blame Jazz for nothing happening sooner, she was a little prickly where James was concerned simply because she found him attractive, while James never hid his attraction to Jazz.

As I mentioned above, I'm going straight onto Devil's Due now to find out how it all ends.

The author transport's you straight into life of Freddy the 18th century aristocrat who has fallen from grace and been disowned by his family. Freddy is alone and without a friend till the mysterious Joseph Black comes along and takes him to his home The Hangman's Hitch. Here he meets a host of characters including the loveable Mary who sings and dancers to entertain the inns visiters. But don't be fooled by the idealistic description the devil what's Freddys soul and he can't trust anyone he meets. To find out if Freddy can save his soul I highly recommend you read The Hangman's Hitch.

Not AHS but watchable.

So it wasn't American Horror Story, but it was still in the ballpark. Grusome, gory and glorious. Where AHS was at times, scary or possibly jumpy, Ratched was more, do I feel bad for these deranged orphans or not? The answer is. No. You don't. She's a psychopath who seems to gets off on pain but disguises it as health care, and he is a literal killer, who despite his good looks, is the devil incarnate. This is by no means a bad thing. I actually really enjoyed it. Especially the backstories and seeing the different illnesses be 'cured. Very good, would recommend to fans of AHS.

"First is The Devil Wears Prada, which I watched a million times over. I’m a fashion fanatic, and I love how it’s like a character in the film. I think it’s one of Meryl Streep‘s most amazing performances. I don’t know, there’s just something about it, the subtleties like the little purse of her lips that she does. I think it’s just really cool, and it’s a bit of a guilty pleasure. And the soundtrack on it is fabulous. I loved watching the way in which they used fashion through it, the dedication to keeping it very fashion-forward. I loved it. I thought it was brilliant."
