Whatchareadin (174 KP) rated Back to the Bedroom (Elsie Hawkins #1) in Books

This was a quick read. It was a cute little story about neighbors who are very unlikely to end up together. After a series of unfortunate events, it seems like being together is really the best thing for them despite their differences.

I don't even remember where I ran across a synopsis of this graphic novel, but I'm glad I did! It's written for a young adult audience, but for me, I connected with it even more because there's a special needs character in the story, and I've got a child with special needs. It's refreshing to see a story give a character with differences strength and hope. The aliens in the story deal with weaknesses being perceived as bad, unwanted things. However, the differences that the character has may just prove to be an asset to his survival.

Feb 17, 2020 (Updated Feb 17, 2020)
As a 3 volume manga series, Your Name is a bit confusing. It appears to be very difficult to translate the differences in time and who is where, when in relatively short manga format. I'd say just watch the movie, which seems to consistently have great reviews.

This is the manga the movie, Edge of Tomorrow, or, Live, Die , Repeat was based off of. This source material is so good. Of course, there were differences, but I wasn't going to compare them.
I read this entire volume during a 3 hour flight, and absolutely loved it.

Irene M (130 KP) rated The Rainbow Stick Boy in Books

Simple illustrations accompany a wonderful story about a stick boy who is born different.
While every other stick person is one colour, Huey is born rainbow coloured. The book looks at how he is treated differently, how he tries to hide what he is so he can fit in and could easily be used to help children understand MANY differences in life. I read this to see if it would help my Aspergers son to understand that being a bit different is okay, and it will be perfect for that, but could easily be used for any other physical or behavioral difference, possibly even as a way to help understand transgender and homosexuality and other "differences" to ALL ages.

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated Fifty Shades Darker (2017) in Movies
Jun 21, 2017
It isn’t sexy. It isn’t thrilling. It isn’t dramatic. It most certainly isn’t cathartic on any level. The characters brush off any differences they’ve had in the past, under the guise of falling in love.

Terribly sad but incredibly written
Contains spoilers, click to show
Writing in the perspective of a 5 year old boy is no mean feat but it felt realistic most of the time and the perspective is incredible. There are some major differences from the film, which make the book more sombre, mainly the mother's wish to stay alone from her family. Horribly sad.

Wendy Higgins delivered another great book again! Well written, full of action and suspense, great plot and characters. Definitely a page turner I was engrossed from page 1. I loved Amber and Remy's Povs and the differences in their situations. Overall a great book. Highly recommended series! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
