How often does hubris put people at risk? More often than you think. Although [Eyewall] by [H.W. Bernard] is a work of fiction it is grounded in fact. Facts that the weather service is not always right, that some people feel their areas are immune to disaster because none happened in their memory, and that the media serves it's own interests.

All these facts lead to an harrowing trip into the eye of a category five hurricane. What these people do to survive and the lessons learned by them should not be lost on us a a larger society. I very enjoyable read.

One of the low budget late night films on the SyFy channel you know will be bad, but you just have to see how bad! It could have been a lot worse, but the minimum budget really effects a film like this that uses a lot of CGI. The effects for the ship at sea are very basic. It doesn't feature a great cast Brooke Burns is the most famous I think, and she is a model! It's a mix of disaster films including Titanic, Poseidon and The day after tomorrow. Only watch if you like cheesy films!

Final Destination (2000)
Final Destination (2000)
2000 | Horror, Mystery
Released 17 years ago in March 2000, Final Destination revolutionised the teen-slasher genre for 00s after Scream did so well for the 90s generation of horror buffs.

The premise was perfectly realised as high-school students tried their best to cheat death after a horrific disaster. The plane sequence in this film still holds up today and remains one of the best horror moments in the last couple of decades.

The acting on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. Though a young Devon Sawa was a magnetic leading presence.

Just watch it. It's an unnerving watch when you realise you keep needing to remember it was real and it happened. The world could have been a very different place indeed. The casting was phenomenal and the emotion driven through the series felt so real. When looking at archive pieces of film, attention to detail is spot on. The helicopter scene - Just insane. Such a touching and completely non glamourised memoriam to all who died and who helped prevent further nuclear disaster. I did start to think after just what other sorts of secrets could a goverment keep??!
