Erika (17789 KP) rated Black Spire (Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge) in Books

In general, Disney is making reading the books essential to the overall Skywalker Saga. I learned that the hard way after the Last Jedi.
The beginning of the book picks up right after the sub-standard book Phasma book, also by Dawson. Vi Moradi is the main character in this book, and I didn't really like her previously. The rest of the book picks up after the Resistance was basically destroyed. Vi goes with another character from Phasma, Cardinal (or whatever his real name is) to Bantuu, which is the planet featured at Disney Parks' Galaxy's Edge.
Again, this is filling time in between the Last Jedi and the impending Rise of Skywalker. So, it is useful to read, to know what exactly is going on. This is the only reason I rated this as 'ok'.

To say that I was nervous to watch this adaptation would be a huge understatement. I was concerned that Disney was going to attempt to remake the magic of the animated original, and the last thing I wanted to watch was that failed attempt.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there was no effort made to recreate the original in live action form. While the story remained primarily intact, the execution and performances were both great in their own rite without attempting to ride the coat tails of the original. All the while, Disney was actually able to pay tasteful homage to the original without doing so distastefully.
Nice little movie. Will Smith actually did very well as the genie, which he found a way to make completely separate and original from the Robin Williams adaptation.

I remember that, in 2013 the song 'Let it Go' was everywhere,
And I do mean everywhere.
Which is perhaps why I never actually saw this movie at all, thinking it wasn't for me, until it was shown on TV over the Christmas period.
This is based loosely on the Hans Christian Anderson tale 'The Snow Queen', and introduces the characters of Anna and Elsa as well as Christoph, Sven and (of course) Olaf, who continues the Disney comic-relief tradition of stealing nearly every scene he is in.
Lots have also been made over the years about how it replaces the typical Disney convention of true love between a Prince and a Princess with that between two sisters: this is true, while it does also make room for a more conventional romance sub-plot to bubble along underneath.

David McK (3475 KP) rated Star Wars: Ahsoka in TV

Disney+ have really been pushing their connection to Star Wars as of late: The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan, The Bad Batch.
All in the Disney+ era, as exclusives.
To this, we can now add Ahsoka.
Which is a strong contender for being the most 'Star Wars'y of the lot, if that makes sense.
It's also effectively a live-action sequel to perhaps one of the best Star Wars animations shows (Rebels), more or less picking up the plot lines from the end of that series after the disappearance of Thrawn and Ezra Bridger in the final episode of it.
So, in effect, we're also doing a live action "Heir to the Empire" (finallyl!!), with the return of Thrawn, alongside elements from the old E.U.: Zombie Stormtroopers, The Nightsisters of Dathomir, the Mortis Gods ...

I'll be honest this was my favourite Disney movie and I was worried the movie would suck. So when it was AMAZING I cried in the movie theater along with every other female in the cinema at the time it was great!

Really enjoyed this one. A truly great modern Disney film.
I fell in love with this film, and I waited to see it. I saved it for my flight to Hawaii and I'm glad I did.... Here's an amazing movie poster fom Tom Whalen, one of my favorite alternate movie poster designers.

This is one of the worst Disney movies in my (unpopular) opinion (sorry, not sorry). I loathe this movie, and have only seen it once, in theaters. The premise is a little too stupid and predictable for me. Don't even get me started on Dory. The character is stupid and it was annoying, not cute.
It's only getting a two because the word abysmal fits perfectly.
