Sarah (7799 KP) rated A Wrinkle in Time (2018) in Movies

Visually stunning, but dull
You can tell a film isn’t great when it pops up on Sky Cinema without being advertised. I didn’t realise this was even available until scanning through the new premieres, which is surprising considering it’s Disney and has some big named stars in it.
As you’d expect with Disney, the visuals in this are flawless. It is a very beautiful, colourful film and you can really appreciate the impressive quality of the effects. The problem is that the visuals are pretty much the only thing going for this film. The plot is convoluted at best and also very dull, and apart from the usually endearing Chris Pine, all of the other characters are either boring, too odd and ill fitting or with such questionable motives that don’t make sense at all. Don’t get me wrong, the film is watchable to a point (although the ending is very very dull), but it’s sadly one of those that is instantly forgettable the moment it finishes.

An underrated Disney film, Lilo and Stitch is a great movie. It shows the hardships of keeping family together and the value of knowing you can pick your family, sort of.
Lolo is a strange kid even under Disney standards, with her stories, voodoo dolls, and taking random (tourist) pictures. There are two places that never fail to make me cry and if I don't at the scene with the hammock when Nani is singing to Lilo then I lose it when Stitch is lost in the forest waiting on his family. It's not all sad Lilo teaching Stitch about how to behave using Elvis as a model and everything falling apart is priceless.
I love David and although Nani is too busy to be looking for any romantic anything he doesn't overly pressure her and you can tell he cares for her and her family. Although he is way to chill when he meets all the other aliens.
Good movie for any age.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Pocahontas (1995) in Movies

Colors Of The Wind
Pocahontas- is a strange movie, cause it came out after "The Lion King". And the movie's after "The Lion King" were stange. What im saying is after "The Lion King", disney decided to go really strange/a huge left turn/didn't expect that/disappointed and overall a huge downfall. But i will get to those movies. Oh this is one of them.
Anyways the plot:
This is the Disney animated tale of the romance between a young American Indian woman named Pocahontas (Irene Bedard) and Capt. John Smith (Mel Gibson), who journeyed to the New World with other settlers to begin fresh lives. Her powerful father, Chief Powhatan, disapproves of their relationship and wants her to marry a native warrior. Meanwhile, Smith's fellow Englishmen hope to rob the Native Americans of their gold. Can Pocahontas' love for Smith save the day.
The songs I dont remember, the plot was so-so, the charcters were intresting and thats pretty much it.

Erika (17789 KP) rated A Crash of Fate (Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge) in Books
Sep 28, 2019 (Updated Sep 28, 2019)
This book was trying sooo hard to mimic @Lost Stars (Star Wars) , you can't help but compare them. This definitely hurt this book.
Firstly, the author did not develop the two main characters' childhood friendship enough to understand the bond they had. Therefore, I didn't understand or care about the romance that developed between the characters. The story line was tired and predictable. The characters just weren't developed enough.
The only thing I did like about the book was the description of Bantuu, and the Black Spire Outpost. It's good background for Galaxy's Edge, the new theme parks at Disney World and Disney Land.
Also, the book kept mentioning Hondo, but he never appeared. How old is he by now? His first appearance was the first season of @Star Wars: The Clone Wars . From pictures, I know he wanders around the park.
So, basically, this lame-o YA romance novel was only worth reading for details on Bantuu.
