"I came across this early on in my operatic journey, and to this day it remains one of my favourite recordings and one of my favourite operas. The wonderful thing about Verdi is that, as you get older, it starts to make more and more sense: these fraught relationships between fathers and sons and lovers and friends. He's so profound in his understanding of human relationships. This opera, Don Carlos, is in my opinion a great masterpiece on a Shakespearian level in its defining, most notably, of the father and son dynamic. There's actually a moment when the father contemplates killing his son – I don't know, but I think that has crossed the minds of certain dads. And as well as Domingo and Caballé, Shirley Verrett is on that recording, who is one of the greatest mezzo-sopranos of all time. So everybody is in there at their zenith vocally, and it's a wild ride."

Marilla was not as good as when she was played by colleen dewhurst she was a bright point. The girl they have playing anne looks the part (0 more)

Changed and made up other things that were never in the book, Matthew is not as warm and likable as Richard Farnsworth is in the 1985 Sullivan films versin (0 more)

I couldn't make it through this whole series yes I know I am partial to the Megan follows as Anne version but was open to this new one even thought the title showed promise. I watched trying to keep an open mind but the more I watched the more upset I got. I am not only a fan of the movie version but I am a fan of the books! Too much was changed and it seemed to lag. Most of the characters were not likable or interesting to me except the lady playing marilla. I don t know if it was the girl playing Anne or the dialogue That was bad. Some may like this but I recommend the books or the 1985 movie

Next set of dad come for a visit

Brad (ferrell) and Dusty (Whalberg) have learned to co exist as dad and step dad. Christmas has come and both of their fathers are coming for a visit. One planned Don (lithgow) who is Brad's dad and Kurt (Gibson) as Dusty's who decides to call the night before to say he is coming for a visit. They all end up spending the most joyful time of year together as a family but Dusty's setp daughter who is a trouble maker father Roger (Cena) is called in to try and make it right for his daughter. Can all of them exist in the same house hold.

I really liked the first one. This one with the addition of Lithgow and Gibson who are perfectly cast to play their fathers and with Cena coming in on it made it fun to watch but, there is a ton of the same type gags from the first one and you begin to expect what they hope you would find as the unexpected.
