Oct 19, 2025 (Updated Nov 23, 2025)
The sequel to both Insomniac's original "Spider-man" and to the 'interquel' "Spider-Man: Miles Morales", this tells an original tale that takes in both Kraven the Hunter and Venom as the two big-bads, following the tease of Peter Osborne in the end credits of the first Spider-man game.
While it may also have helped to have played Miles Morales in between (I did), I don't feel it is essential to enjoy the story of this (although I am sure you would miss some of the Easter Eggs, and maybe not have the same connection to the characters of Miles and his friends and family), with the plots of both briefly summarised in a "Previously on / who am I" segment at the very beginning of this.
And, yes, I'm sure there'll be a sequel: I'm actually surprised there hasn't (yet) been any add-on for this released!

A decent adaptation of a great book
Contains spoilers, click to show
From the get go, I think I'd best say I came to this with a pre-concieved notion that I was going to enjoy it, having read the book several times and having a long term love affair with Steven Spielberg (child of the 80s, so most of my formative years were spent sitting worshipping at the alter of Spielberg and Lucas) so I was aware that I was going to enjoy this film regardless, that said, there are moments in the film that fell flat for me, but on the whole....its a very enjoyable little action/adventure romp....with plenty in it for film lovers (the whole shining sequence had me grinning from ear to ear) and gamers too ( the whole film is deeply rooted in gamer culture and there are more gaming Easter eggs than you can shake a stick at) there's plenty of heart to this film too, and by the time the credits rolled I left the theatre thoroughly entertained, had this film come out a few years back, it would have been lauded as a sci-fi/adventure classic, however we now live in a post marvel world where every film they release seem to raise the bar very high, and films like this get lost in the shuffle a little, does this make it a worse movie....not at all, but it probably didn't get the acclaim it deserved because of being released in a sea of blockbusters.
So in closing, if you're looking for that perfect Sunday afternoon adventure film....you could do a lot worse than giving this a watch....see how many movie/gaming references you can spot

Repetitive, and a disappointing end to the trilogy.
After getting my hopes up, and initially thoroughly enjoying it, what an absolute stinker this game has turned out to be.
It could have been a great game, but the story, inside and out of the animus, has really let it down.
Firstly, the gameplay is fun, archery, swinging away with axes, beheading everyone in sight, and the mysteries, the new side missions, are an excellent addition, very fun with a great variety, and contain some great little pop cultures references and Easter eggs. The characters are also great, and probably some of the most memorable.
But now the negatives. The first, and for most a deal-breaker, the story. The story is made up of mini-arcs, which all involve gaining allies for your settlement. These tend to be very repetitive in most cases. But of course there are the two main arcs, Eivor's arc, and Layla's arc, the star of the previous two games.
Eivor's arc while very typical, has some really interesting ideas that will blow you away. But don't get too excited, we have no DLC yet, but so far all these awesome ideas and revelations seem to have been forgotten about by the end of the game. The end of his main arc is incredibly dull and predictable.
Layla's arc, unfortunately, while having a good twist, still remains dull, predictable, and comes to a dull, unsatisfactory ending that could have been (and probably was) written in a lunch break.
Finally, the bugs. From day one, this game has had quite a few bugs, ranging from fatal bugs resulting in lost game progress, and preventing the story from progressing, and minor things like being stuck in walls and on viewpoints, horses running out of control (while riding), and being permanently, totally drunk.
Overall, a huge disappointment.

Exciting
Well directed
Crew chemistry

Soundtrack
A thrillride all the way through
I have no idea why this movie opened to mixed reviews, as it is actually my favourite of the three reboot Star Trek Movies. All of the characters are great, the chemistry that is seen between the cast members due to the circumstances of the plot is fun and well written, the movie is exciting and very well directed by Justin Lin. The stakes are high and the villain is complex and a truly frightening threat. The special effects are beautiful, the tone and the soundtrack are refreshing and the script is well written. I came out of this one having enjoyed it way more than I thought I would going in. Also, it is full of Easter eggs and call backs for long time Trekkies, while also being easily accessible to anyone that isn’t familiar with the franchise.

Beautiful and my favourite film
I was so young when I first watched this film and I can honestly say that I have never watched anything more beautiful and heartwarming.
This is a movie that shows love, friendship, loss and hardships. It’s so beautifully drawn you feel such a connection that it’s as if the characters leap off the screen and are sat there with you. Watch out for little Easter eggs that hint at their other creations and it will make the experience even more enjoyable. It’s hard to spot them all but it’s a fun game once you’ve watched it a few times.
If you haven’t watched this film yet I urge you to watch it, but be prepared to fall in love and never be able to forget this film.
Just remember once you’ve watched this, watch all the other studio Ghibli films as you can’t stop at this one.

So fun to try and spot the background ghosts
The ending was a bit weak. (1 more)
The dad's contact lenses
Tense and has lots of Easter eggs.
I haven't read the book, so sadly I can't compare (though I'm just going to assume the book is better.)
The show is less about scaring you with cheap jumpscares and more a character analysis and what their fears look like, what their own ghosts look like.
It's slow and patient, showing each characters best and worst qualities, making them dislikable in a very good way. Plus the great acting helps you construct your own opinion on each family member.
There are some things I didn't enjoy so much, the ending didn't feel the same as the rest of the show and the fact the younger version of the dad has really, really bad contact lenses threw me off Every time he was on scenes.
