"Number one that always springs to mind is Billy Wilder’s The Apartment. I’m sure you’re familiar with that film. It’s one of those movies which manages to combine all sorts of flavors. People tend to think of it as a romantic comedy, but actually it has some quite dark elements; the Shirley MacLaine character tries to kill herself at one point. And that’s the sort of movie, I like to think — in terms of the sort of films I would like to try and make — are films which are hard to pigeonhole. It has elements of humor, maybe, but there’s also drama in there. Billy Wilder’s one of my heroes, because I think he’s able to sort of step between different genres and make masterpieces."

Amplitude made a concerted effort to improve upon the foundation of the original while adding in some interesting lore building elements. It’s impressive that there’s been no regression in the quest to craft the sequel.

Superb read. Well written with a great plot and characters. I was engrossed from start to finish. This book is fast paced and has elements of mystery and suspense. It also has some twists I didn't see coming and the ending was intense. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

Based upon the life of a Navy S.E.A.L sniper so deadly he became a target for insurgency, it's also a case study of dedication to duty and also the struggle maintaining a home and family and also the effects of war on the human psyche, the sniper elements are very interesting and the story is intelligently told.

A scientifically important series of novellas.
The author makes many predictions of future technology which so far have all come true. He predicted the internet, search engines, handheld smartphone devices, GPS, sentient AI, and many other elements of today's society that he couldn't possibly have known about when this book was written.

I found this story to be really cute. There is just this innocent feel to it that I really loved about it. I also enjoyed Magical Realism elements very much. My one complaint is that I would have preferred it if she had ended up the man that she didn't end up with in the end.
