It was a very simple story full of a long line of strong female characters. As I was reading I was literally building the "family tree" in my head. All the back stories help keep these strong family ties and traditions at the forefront of the story. I really thought I was going to hate this book, but it was the complete opposite.

Andrews really puts you into the story and into the mind of Cathy. But there is a LOT of mature content in this book! Wow! Between rape, incest, child abuse, and psychological trauma, you'd think it would be a depressing experience but you're rooting for the kids the entire time! But take it from me...draw out a family tree to keep track of who is who.

Are you looking for a sweet, adorable book about Christmas magic for your child or children? Maybe even your grandchild or grandkids? Well, I may have a book for your child or children called “The Living Christmas Tree” by Kristin Sponaugle.
This book is about two children and how the ornaments come to life at night around the holiday season. What will happen when Hannah finds out what is going on in the evening hours when the Christmas tree comes to life.
This tree seems to have the magic of Christmas; what fun will the ornaments do? Whatever happens when the family is asleep. What fun will the children have at night when the children come to visit; until the decorations are put away for next year.
The pictures are lovely. I love the plot about the Christmas ornaments that the family has put on the Christmas Tree. Is it possible there is the magic of Christmas as long as you believe? Whether your child or an adult. Children will love reading this book. Children will enjoy learning about the magic of Christmas in a different and new way. Parents will enjoy the book as well. It is excellent for the holiday season or reading during the holiday season.

I recently had a go at reading Shel Silverstein's A Light in the Attic which was lovely (even if I am a little too old for these books now), and now I've read his The Giving Tree.
There's not that much I can say about this book as it is only 60-odd pages, but I did find it super sweet. Even at 16, I kind of enjoyed reading this short, childishly simple book...
It tells the unusual tale of love between a boy and an apple tree while the boy grows up and the tree gives everything she has to keep him happy. I thought it was just so cute!
If you have any young family members, I would definitely recommend reading this book with them. I might have to give this 4 stars...

If you love games that draw you into the story than this is for you. You explore the family tree of a girl named Edith and even though it is very linear it doesn't feel like it. It is a very unique game and it is one of my favourites. It is a bit sad and depressing at times, so if you are not a fan of games like that than this might not be for you.

A Family Saga Spanning Generations and the Globe
I won a copy of House of Rougeaux through a Goodreads Giveaway (my first time winning!) I don't think I would have normally picked this up - and I try to enter myself in giveaways for just this reason - to discover new authors and read stories I wouldn't normally seek out.
House of Rougeaux was a wonderful story of a family spanning across the globe and across generations. The saga is non-linear, so it jumps around a bit. I had a hard time following in the beginning and there are quite a few characters to keep straight. But once I got a few chapters in, it was fairly easy to keep track. The family tree illustration in the beginning is super helpful and I fell in love with this family - and the way the author connected the generations was clever and didn't feel forced at all.
From the early 1800's at a sugar plantation in Martinique with Abeje, a healer, and her brother - facing tremendous brutality and loss - only to survive and start the legacy of this story and this family. To more present day with Eleanor, a musician in Canada - faced with a harrowing situation and tough choices, coming full circle.
There is magic and wonder, healing and suffering, as well as music and love. You see these aspects reflected across bloodlines, across generations, from slavery to freedom and across the world. Things are passed down, and you see a bit of some characters in other, through an intricate weaving of layers. But it's easy to see how this family changed and progressed over 100 years, and the spirit that lives within them all.
The story was captivating and the writing, eloquent. Thanks to Goodreads, Jenny Jaeckel and Raincloud Press for the opportunity to read and review.

A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas is the third movie in the Harold and Kumar series. This movie takes place six years after the events of Escape from Guantanamo Bay. Harold Lee (John Cho) and Kumar Patel (Kal Penn) have fallen out of touch since Harold got married, got a job on Wall Street and moved to the suburbs. Kumar is still smoking tons of weed. Harold on the other hand has stopped smoking weed and is desperately trying to find a way to impress his father in-law, Mr. Perez, played by Danny Trejo. Mr. Perez is obsessed with Christmas. Every year his family uses a Christmas tree that he has grown. This year he brought his home grown tree to Harold’s house for Christmas. In an attempt to win Mr. Perez over, Harold encourages Mr. Perez to take the family to midnight mass while Harold decorates the tree while they are gone.
Kumar is still living in the same apartment that he shared with Harold. He has let the place go a bit while he has been living on his own. His ex-girlfriend shows up to tell him she is pregnant, but since Kumar is high he doesn’t act very mature about it. Later, as Kumar is getting ready to go to a party with his new friend, he finds a mysterious package at his door addressed to Harold. Kumar decides to take it by Harold’s house on his way to the party. When he gets there Harold and Kumar catch up a little bit over some egg nog. Harold opens the package and discovers it is a giant joint, which Kumar proceeds to light it up. Harold gets upset and throws the joint out of the window. It then magically comes back inside and burns down the tree. Of course this freaks Harold out and a desperate search for a new tree begins
This is the beginning of a hysterical journey . This roller coaster ride is filled with drugs, sex, gangsters and even more drugs. Of course Neil Patrick Harris comes back to be his crude self. This movie has a lot of good Christmas moments, but it is only for a mature audience. Fans of the first two Harold and Kumar movies will love the third installment. A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas is a non stop laugh fest. The 3D in this movie was surprisingly good. Movie goers will be impressed by the two different kinds of snow and the weed smoke going out over the audience. A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas is bound to become a Christmas classic that you will want to watch every year.

I loved this! I got so excited when I saw the thirteen questions about Lemony Snicket that were being asked, and I loved it even more when I discovered that they were being answered in the typical Snicket way – cryptic and nonsensical.
The book is made up of multiple letters, newspaper clippings and diary entries that explain everything and nothing at the same time.
It did give a few of the characters some more background which I enjoyed, and it explained the relationship between the characters a lot more than the book series does.
It never tells you the exact truth. I stared at the Snicket family tree for ages trying to work out the initials!
