Slade Jeffries (11 KP) rated Betrayal at Baldur's Gate in Tabletop Games
Mar 21, 2019
Just as great as the original with a fantasy twist.
Betrayal at Baldur's Gate is a fantastic game. The original Betrayal game is my all time favorite game and I was worried this game would be a cheap reskin, but I was mistaken. Baldur's sets itself apart with a few changes to the game that actually work very well. Now playable characters have abilities based on their class that are actually very useful. Instead of exploring a house you are exploring a city which has lots of cool areas to find and secrets to uncover. The best part about all the Betrayal games is the fact that almost every play through can be different because of the way scenarios are randomized. Every scenario I have played has been fun and completely different from others. The quality of the pieces is also fantastic the tokens are on thick cardboard that is very sturdy. Now this game is a little difficult for people new to more complex board games like this, and maybe there could be a better way to explain the rules to new players. All in all Betrayal at Baldur's Gate is a fantastic game that you will play again and again, while probably never playing the same scenario twice.

David McK (3633 KP) rated Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) (2025) in Movies
Aug 26, 2025 (Updated Aug 26, 2025)
Most recent (at time of writing) of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) films, that actually takes place in a different dimension than the rest of said Universe (so NOT in the same reality as Captain America, The Avengers, Iron Man etc etc), with the setting of said universe also a faux 1960s retro future: all gleaming chrome cars, skyscrapers, big hats ...
It also has Pedro Pascal in the lead role as Mr Fantastic alongside Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (and with Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn rounding out the family as The Thing and Johnny Storm respectively), with the film starting with the Fantastic Four already in possession of their powers; already established as mainstream (and popular) superheroes.
And about to face the threat of Galactus, the Destroyer of Worlds, just as Sue is about to give birth to her first child,
I must admit, I did struggle a bit with the casting of Pedro Pascal as Mr Fantastic - to me, he will always by Djinn Djarijn, the Mandalorian of the Disney+ series of the same name.
I also felt the resolution to be a bit on the weak side!
Still, it's nice to see something different in the MCU once in a while.

Take A Chance On This One
This was a gritty and raw read addressing issues that many young people face today. The author did a great job with the storyline and the characters were utterly fantastic. I found myself caught up in the emotions that were literally dripping off the pages and I'm glad I took a chance on this one.
Movie Critics (823 KP) rated The Bad Batch (2016) in Movies

As a whole, Amirpour has a lot to be proud of with The Bad Batch. Her work is bold, unflinching, and often challenging, and I would expect nothing less from her as a filmmaker.

Thunder, is just fantastic, a mix of chipmunk vocal samples and crashing drums that’s a career highlight for the band. Not everything works here, but however they've done enough to stay as big as they are

Charlie Day
Del Toro's worst
Guillermo Del Toro is a fantastic director, but he really does himself a disservice with this film. It's an interesting story idea and the effects are pretty decent, it's just a shame the acting and script are awful. Charlie Day is beyond irritating in every scene he's in, and even Idris Elba doesn't come off well.

One of Danny Boyle's Best
Danny Boyle is one of those directors that can rarely do wrong, and he really excels here with this beautiful sci-fi. It's well acted and has a fantastic cast, the effects are brilliant and it's a really interesting plot. The soundtrack by John Murphy is probably one of my all time favourite soundtracks, so haunting and memorable.

my favorite film of all time.
We watched this for my Creative Writing class when I was in the 10th grade in 2014. I had never heard of it before, but after watching it, it broke me. Fantastic acting from the entire cast, especially from the late Robin Williams. It really captured the essence of friendship and camaraderie between the characters.
