So boring!
As their eyes meet across the room at a party, April and Frank hit it off and dance together. They become a couple and get married, unfortunately their marriage is problematic, they are always arguing and Frank is sleeping around. As an attempt to rekindle their marriage and start fresh, Frank and April decide to move to Paris.
First off, the acting in this movie is fantastic but that's a given as they were brill in Titanic. The storyline itself though, I found pretty boring, it just didn't feel like there was much of a storyline other than the story of a couple in a loveless marriage, and it wasn't interesting enough to keep me engaged. It's one of those movies I can recommend for a good performance, but I can't recommend it for its story sadly.

What We Do In The Shadows (2014)
What We Do In The Shadows (2014)

What We Do in the Shadows is just great.

Pretty much every line of dialogue is hilarious, and very subtle most of the time.
There's a lot of funny dry humour here, excentuated wholeheartedly by the New Zealand accent.
Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement are fantastic both behind and in front of camera, and the rest of the cast, in particular Cori Gonzalez-Macuer and Jonny Brugh are brilliant as well. Special kudos to Stu Rutherford for giving us a character that even vampires don't want to die.

The horror element is pretty good also. It plays on many vampire tropes well still managing to be suitably bloody when it needs to be.

What We Do in the Shadows is just an all round wonderful movie, something I find myself thinking for most things that Taika Waititi touches.

Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

"This is just maddeningly brilliant. At once sweeping and epic, and yet searingly personal, thanks to the incredible work of Peter O’Toole. It’s such a long film, which I love, and yet there’s not a moment in it that seems like it’s played too long. Everything from the rich orchestral score, to the extraordinary photography of F.A Young, and David Lean at the peak of his powers make this a timeless film, and one that remains, sadly, as relevant today as when it was shot. It’s about political and financial power and about the subjugation of a people, the fight for freedom and the power of the individual to make a stand against the imperial. All the performances are fantastic, from Sir Alec Guinness to Omar Sharif and on. Again, this feels like a perfect piece of cinema to me."

very revealing book, lots of interesting information (0 more)
Awesome insight, great read, fun and light hearted
I really enjoyed this as to often with him being the straight man (as such) he is overlooked. This tells the complete story of one half of the best double acts in entertainment history. It contains how he and Eric Bartholomew (Eric Morecambe) met and how they bonded and entertained for their entire careers. What i like particularly is this shows another side of Ernie Wise that few people knew, namely he was entertaining at just six years old. He was already a popular entertainer before he and Eric met and he continued to be so after Eric Morecambe sadly passed away in 1984. Its a fantastic read and one of the best biographies i have read for a long time :)

Mindhunter - Season 1
Mindhunter - Season 1
2017 | Crime
Superb series
Fantastic series documenting a fictionalised account of the ground-breaking FBI agents who tried to define a system of using psychology and profiling to try and identify what kind of person may have committed a crime.
Includes portrayals of some famous serial killers, Edmond Kemper's is sublime, as they are interviewed to try and assess what drove them to commit their atrocious crimes (spoiler: it's usually their mums and absent dads).
Excellently acted, Jonathan Groff is a perfect antisocial, driven investigator who doesn't pull his punches and shares a lot of personality traits with those he is analysing.
This series was a gentle introduction to their methodology and starting to use it to identify who may have committed crimes - this is done at a good pace, rather than getting drawn into a "one crime per episode" mentality.

Rolling Stone's 298th greatest album of all time
Fantastic album, from before the ego landed. While Kanye's personality and ego is still present, it is far from as overbearing as it became. "All Falls Down" is an undeniably superb song, "Jesus Walks" is a very interesting piece of music. The album as a whole shows a diverse range of influences and styles and is a really good listen. This is due to Kanye's prior focus being on production and not being at the forefront of songs, allowing him to hone that side of songwriting. Last Call is a very interesting long rolling history of West's career to that point, striving to be recognised as a rapper as well as just a talented producer, though at times he comes across as an annoying desperate Jay-Z fan-boy.
