AT (1676 KP) rated The Umbrella Academy in TV
Feb 23, 2019 (Updated Feb 23, 2019)
So far, I'm enjoying The Umbrella Academy very much! I started reading the comics and was a bit confused in parts in the beginning. It's one that is better seen in front of me, I guess. I'm planning to re-read the books, though. It'll flow easier this time. I'm loving watching the characters brought to life on screen. The show has got a great soundtrack too!

Dean (6927 KP) rated The Good Girl (2002) in Movies
Apr 30, 2019
A so-so very slow paced drama, with quite dark comic moments. A woman bored with her everyday life in a small town embarks on an affair with a colleague. After that it's just one problem after another. It does have the odd comic moment, but overall it can be quite a dreary drama. ok story and cast, very low budget. Not bad overall, far from great!

Woah
Wow, I do not regret pre-ordering this absolute gem. This is by far, one of his best albums, in my opinion, Lots of people believe that things couldn't get better than 2 or Salad Days, but I'm not sure. It feels like the whole Arctic Monkeys debate.
This really gives me lucid Beatles and soul train vibes while still retaining that classic Mac synth sound.

David McK (3557 KP) rated Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, #3) in Books
May 26, 2019
Third entry in Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series, and maybe I was beginning to burn out as I had read the first three books back-to-back in the course of about a week, but I found this one to be slower moving, more graphic and heavier going than either of the two previous novels.
Of the first three books, this is by far the weakest.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Taken 2 (2012) in Movies
Feb 11, 2018
A very enjoyable sequel with plenty of action. It's missing a certain something second time round though, maybe the detective work to track his daughter down added more suspense in the first. Good to see the daughter and ex-wife have larger roles this time though. Unfortunately though I got a bad feeling there could be a 3rd, which really would stretch the franchise too far.

Erika (17789 KP) rated X-Men '92 Volume 0: Warzones! in Books
Feb 13, 2018
When I found out that part of Warzones would involve the X-Men circa the early 1990s cartoon, I was psyched. Cue the crazy theme song. Jubilee was my favorite.
Though, it didn't really end up delivering, as far as I'm concerned. I wanted it to be so much better, but it was just an average story. At least they kept all characters' looks the same.

Clare Parrott (294 KP) rated Murder in Stilettos in Books
Feb 13, 2018
I hope the paying public get a better copy than I did to review. Far to many errors in grammar and in plot and this could have been such a good book. Very disappointed. Got to chapter 15 before I couldn't take anymore and had to abandon it. I'd be happy to re-read this book if i'm give an edited copy to read.

Briannabrown1019 (799 KP) rated Flowers for Algernon in Books
Jun 20, 2018
I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book. It was recommended to me via a discussion in one of my classes, and I hadn't even heard of it before. The story drew me in and kept me. I finished the book within 24 hours cause I just couldn't put it down. It's hands down the best books I've read so far this year.

Purrsistently (46 KP) rated Sing, Unburied, Sing in Books
Jun 21, 2018
While it is excellent work, this is not really an entertainment read. Ward lays out so much in story far more powerfully than any essay on American race relations, trauma, privilege, and rural southern life ever could. It was chilling, moving, eyeopening for me. I definitely want to read Ward's other books.
The audiobook is very well done as well, read by a talented cast.
