Hilarious and heart warming
I'd read one of Matt Haig's other books and The Humans had been recommended as a must read, and I can really see why.

This is a hilarious story of life on earth viewed by an alien visitor. It wasn't quite the tale I expected and in fact turned out miles better than I'd hoped. Its very fast paced and 'Andrew' is such an endearing and loveable main character. His view on human life and emotions is very funny and also very heartwarming. Although the ending isn't entirely unpredictable, the rest of the book more than makes up for it. Andrew's "Advice for a human' list towards the end of the book is so thoughtful and insightful, and also pretty damn funny too. Such an enjoyable book to read.

This novel was recommended to me by an old high school friend. This is definitely not my typical book. I like the fast paced suspense/romance and I tend to stick with those novels. I'm glad that I picked up this novel.

This novel was very interesting. It's a collection of short stories narrated by death. It follow the life of a young German girl during the time of world war 2. It's told in a different way by having "Death" as the narrator.

This was a pretty quick read. It makes you think too. It's one of those novels that will make you think about the depravity of human beings and give you some hope along side of it.

All in all, it was a good novel that deals with World War II.

Alicia Vikander Lights up the Screen
Following up his powerful Norwegian disaster movie THE WAVE with this big budgeted English language debut reboot of the video game to big screen series TOMB RAIDER, director Roar Uthaug delivers a fun, fast-paced new take on the series.

Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander picks up the baton left by our previous Lara Croft, Angelina Jolie and has a blast in what is essentially a female spin on INDIANA JONES and NATIONAL TREASURE.

While the film gets pretty ridiculous as it continues, the eye-catching effects and sharp visual visual style, as well as terrific turns by Dominic West and Walton Goggins as her father and the film's villain respectively keep you invested, even if you'll forget it almost as quickly as you've seen it.

If you are a fan of the Tortall world you should live this book. Set before the Immortals Sonnet, we get to see what Numair's childhood was like as he grows up in Carthak and meets Ozorne and Valice. Unlike most of her books this is completely set in Numair' s aka Arran Draper' s p.o.v.
I would recommend to pre-teens and older however, suggest that parent's read first because male puberty is discussed. Also discussed is Bullying, slavery, death, learning mage craft, political intrigue, friendship, love, gods, war. and has a few graphic fighting and healing scenes. A fast-paced read that has world building to reacquaint people to known characters. it does have an abrupt ending but I'm also selfish in I didn't want the book to end.

This book is the first of a set of four, written by four different authors. It started with a single idea - rewrite fairytales with a mystical twist. Collectively, it's called the Royal House of Shadows.

I've enjoyed Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series and wanted to see how she would write under a "Mills & Boon" title!!!

I enjoyed this book and read it in one evening. It is a fast-paced book, not 'heavy' at all, although there are some twists and turns to the story as it involves memories being taken and you have to stay up to date with who did what to whom.

On the whole, a pleasant read. It didn't blow my socks off or make me blush but wasn't a waste of time either.

This is the story of Caislyn and Jax, two very different women with attitude!

Jax has run away from an abusive relationship and started a new life. She considers herself wholly human in a world where the 'paranormal' exists.

Caislyn is a witch whose parents are missing and the world, including her lawyer, presume dead although she refuses to believe this.

Throw them together and what have you got? A fast-paced, punchy book that made me laugh with their humour and search along with them for answers. Vampires are "alive and kicking" in this book but are not, for once, in the hot seat but more a back seat driver which makes a nice change.

Will definitely be getting the second and third books in this series.

I received this book from Barclay Publicity in return for a fair and honest review.

A senator's life is being threatened, along with his four-year-old daughter's. The agent assigned to him has a previous history with the senator from years ago when the senator was his lawyer. This book is quick and explosive in all ways possible. From the start, you have bomb explosions and fistfights and then there is the whole 'thing' going on with the Senator and the Agent! This is a novella and as such, things have to move along quickly and this does indeed move quickly.

It is well written, fast-paced and punchy which makes it perfect for a coffee break read. Recommended for all fans of the novella and m/m romances.

Guy Ritchie back to his best
I'll start by saying that I am huge Guy Ritchie fan so am probably a bit biased but I am definitely not blinkered though. I realise that he's made a couple of stinkers, a few average films and a couple of excellent films. I think we can now add the gentleman to the list of excellent films! This is by far the best film Ritchie has made post Matthew vaughan. It's a fast paced film with even faster dialogue, Ritchie hasn't had a cast of characters this interesting since snatch with the highlights being fletcher (Hugh grant), coach (Colin Farrell) and Ray (Charlie hunnam). I personally would love to see a spin off movie about Ray and coach. Overall I would give this a 9/10 excellent film.
